Hey..did anyone catch the Criss Angel special on SciFi? He did an intersting effect where he swallowed a quarter and it went down his arm. If this was done with makeup, it was done very well...anyone ever seen an effect similar to this for sale? Also...I'm trying to create an effect where I cry glass...any tips/insight?

For crying glass I am not certain, though in Nordic Mythology, I think I recall that there is a godess who cries tears of gold, and another who cries tears of ice.

As far as Angel's coin effect, I have never seen it in print. I am quite sure it was developed specifically for that special. As far as crying glass, or anything else for that matter, check out The Swami Mantra.

Very true, in fact, I could probably generate a similar effect with some items I have at my disposal. The hard part is getting everything to look real...IE the skin...

Crying glass would be very cool! Let me know if you find out about this! I already have a routine in mind!

Swami Mantra is the place to check out most of the geek type effects like glass eating, etc.

I got to see Ichazod's crying glass effect in person...very bizarre. Although he explained his method to me afterwards, I would never want to try to duplicate the effect. I mean there really are shards of glass comming out of your eye!....that's just messed up!
I was very impressed, and more so with the very spine chilling story he used along with it. The mood he set and the build up for the climax was simply out done! All the old props and everything he used, the chilling routine, and the bizzare effect, made this a routine I will not forget. P.

I did not see him on T.V. The crying glass, is this the same method as bean up the nose and out the eye (needle eye to eye trick)? How big is this glass bead he uses to come out of his eye and is their more than one in each eye? I do unpopped popcorn, is his glass bead the same size? If I understsand what he is doing it sounds like it can be made into something beautiful with the right story behind it. Myself, I like the shock value of just reaching into someones bag of popcorn. Thank you for any comments to better help me understand what everyone is talking about. Tony

Why use stage skin for the coin trick. Just have a Doctor put it under your own skin. And hey, for the money he got for that show a one-inch cut will heal up and he can talk about this showing the scar for years to come.

If you want to see some weird stuff then Ichazod is the man to watch. I haven't seen him post in awhile so he must be working on something deep in his lair.

Does anyone have a street or email address for Ichazod. I remember him posting when I first joined the Café but have not seen anything for a while now that someone has mentioned it. I would like to talk to someone about this crying glass thing. I wonder if it is like the girl who they said could cry rocks.

Just go to "Meet The Staff" section of the Café and you'll get to be able to write to him directly.

There is a girl, I think in Turkey, but I'm not sure, who cries shards of glass. I saw her in a learning channel special. It seemed to me that her father was the "brains" behind the stunt which was presented as a religious miracle. It made me sad to think that she was placing obviously sharp glass by the tablespoonful under her eyelids.
I caution anyone thinking about performing this trick to exercise extreme caution. Keep in mind that Sam Delal in the intro to the collected swami and mantra advises against performing many of the effects described within (Crying glass is not included in Swami or Mantra). If you do perform the effect, then at least have the good sense to use smooth glass beads that have been sterilized and not rough glass. Even a slight scratch or imperfection could be damaging to your eye. Even popcorn feels risky to me as there is a sharp end to the kernel and I would sooner put a needle in my eye, following Delal's handling, than a popcorn kernel. But that's just me, and for the record I don't do either. If I had a television special, I might be motivated to perform these effects as a one off, but honestly, why would any of you want to perform this-- to gross out your friends, or maybe to pull foreign objects out of your eyes dozens of times a night as you stroll from table to table! Please, think it through and read Sam Delal's well thought out advice before proceeding. J |

Wow thanks guys...especial Peter. I'm going to have to look up Ichazod. If I may ask, is his method similar to the needle through eye routine?

I tried to E-mail Ichazod at his Meet the staff Address and have not gotten an answer back. I guess he is not using it anymore or just hates me. If he just hates me I'm getting really good. In most cases I at least need to say someting to upset people LOL.

I have been very busy lately & have not had much time to get on the computer. I'm glad that I have not been forgotten. I have been invited back to Turkey to perform on a television show, though I'm not sure if I can go. I'm currently trying to make arrangments. I will try to get on more often & keep up with everyone. |
