RooMan: No, you can't do it for them.
Pyro and David: Good points. If you have something that works for you, there is no need to buy the Paul Harris routine and props. Steve H

To answer a few questions:
*No you do not have to force a specific card. *Yes all those spectators sitting at different tables can select a different card from any other card already choosen. *The card named by the spectator is always the card found in the envelope and the envelope is shown to be otherwise empty *Though inspired by "KK" the "O&O" does not use the "out" referred to in the above postings *Yes, a variety of other effects can be performed with the "props" supplied. We will soon publish some of these on our "TIPS" page at http://www.deepastonishment.com. |

Sounds like this can completely replace an ID for an out, just in case lightning strikes twice in 1 routine...

I recieved this beautiful routine and may I say it, I love it. Gives you food for thought as well. I think it is a great replacement for an ID that will tell those off who think you've flipped it over.

I've grown very weary of reviews re: Paul Harris' effects after the Reality Twister. I bought that based on reviews on this board, and that thing was the most overrated effect I have ever seen. Even the drunk people I tried it on weren't impressed. Thus, my question for those who have this new effect, is it really usable. By usable I mean practical to carry around and perform as part of a walk-around set. How much pocket management is involved

The majority of the reviews I have read on here are negative towards Reality Twister.
This IS good.

I just received mine. It's about what I thought it would be. Nothing too new here. Basically a super collosal combo of old principles. The script is probably where the most novel thinking comes in. I have yet to learn it and perform it, but it looks good. Is it better than Invisible Deck? No, nothing is. But it is different. Also, don't expect anything as beautiful as Deep Astonishment. Just think about DA for a minute.
DA: Without any word play a person can name practically any word in the English language and you've got it in a wallet that's been on the table the entire time. One and Only: With a little word play you've correctly predicted 1 out 52 cards.

Platt, nice review and perspective on the new effect. I think I will finally look into deep astonishment. (and just to clarify my earlier post, I bought deep astonishment early on while all the hype and glowing reviews were coming in, and prior to the start of all hte negative reviews. Figures.)

I was talking to Paul about the life of the gimmicks and he said as long as they stay clean (no touching with the fingers) they should last for hundreds of
performances. |

Mine arrived today. I think there are things in the written material that are worth ten times the price.
The beauty is the way Paul has come up with the way the spek really selects the card THEY want (or they think they did). Sure it has shades of KK, but in may ways it is stronger. The only hard part for my fossilized brain is remembering which way... (those that have it will know what I mean).

I don't know the KK effect mentioned above, so I can't compare the two. However I like the scripting of this new Harris effect. I ought to prove useful for applications to other effects. Hoever I was a little disappointed with the gimmick (yes there is one).
And then I read the stream lined version of the handling, buried within the instructions. Adopting this approach eliminates the thing (sorry best not say exactly what) that I didn't like about the gimmick. This handling makes this cleaner than the original invisible deck (never did see the sense of the chosen card facing a different way to all the other 51 cards). I still love and prefer Derren Brown's single card forces in Pure Effect and the Devil's Picturebook (no doubt similar applications of KK), but if you can't master these and you want 100% success then the Harris effect is pretty good. Life expectancy of the envelope might be an issue though. |
