Hi,
I want to buy real morgan silver dollars. But there are so many fakes floating around on ebay that its very difficult to find the real ones with my (zero) experience. Is there any reliable shop that sells them internationally? Thanks for your help. |

I can understand your apprehension about EBay. But, I've purchased Morgan's, silver half crowns and other coins on EBay and have always been happy with what I received. And, they're probably cheaper there than through magic dealers.

Shakuni, There are various legitimate coin shops on-line you can rely on. I buy from Coins Plus based in my hometown.

The Great American Coin Company is reliable. http://www.greatamericancoincompany.com/
They sell "raw" Morgans for $48.25, and at higher prices for graded coins. They also sell legal copies that are silver plated if you prefer the look of mint coins without spending a fortune. They are marked "copy" on the reverse side.

Lots of good advice here shak, and you might want to get yourself a nice set w/ X [ from one of the craftsman, since 4-5 might cost you about $200 anyway. Also, check around here, someone might have a set they are willing to part with.
I got myself a nice soft set just that way and I love them. You can then use them with or without the [ . Oh, and "worn" Morgans are even cheaper. And too bad they stop selling the replica Morgans, as they really were a great alternative to real ones. They were cheap-cheap, and look and felt good enough, and were also conveniently ferromagnetic. I also have a nice set of those as well and very happy with them. And y'know, specs don't care if they are real or replicas And so, there are many ways to skin a cat as to this.

I would go with Magical Morgans from Joe Mogars website $10.00 ea and you cannot tell the difference except they are attracted to a magnet (which is a plus)

And, Joe may be out of expanded ['s but scroll down, he also sells slippery Sam shells for like $85.00 In magical Morgan. You would only pay $125.00 for a set + shipping

I laughed. Moral of the story, don't put these in the hands of someone that has handled them a lot. I'm not saying she is old enough to have used them but my dad collected silver coins and she had weighed her share.

Not sure where you are located, but see if there are regional coin clubs in your area. These clubs should be affiliated with NGC or other national recognized organizations and will know when the coin shows, auctions, and coin events are scheduled. They will also have information on the issue you are referring to.
