I noticed Roberto Giobbi was the Second place in the FISM Close Up Card Magic twice in both 1988 and 1991. Does anyone know what his FISM acts were? Are they in the Card College series?

I wish I could see his performances too!
The only thing I know is that in Card College 5, page 1163, he describes a routine called 'The Quick-change Artists'. He says he conceived it as an introduction to Vernon's 'Travellers' "which together with a few other items formed my winning card act at the FISM World Congress in 1988". 'The Quick-change Artists' with a slighlty different handling is in my usual repertoire... mlippo |

The FISM 1988 act is published in German in the booklet "Fantasia in As-Dur" and also on an old (German) video tape. Don't know if it was translated.

There is few parts in Card college. And as mentioned, it is performer in old German VHS tape. Its a nice act but with todays standards nothing earthshaking or spectacular competition act wise. You wont get fooled or such. It is classical magic, presented really well

Thanks J-M for the info. I am curious about the performance, wish I could find it somewhere online..
But I think this rise a interesting point, the winner in 1991 act was Lennart Green. Correct me if I am wrong please, but he seems to self-taught a lot of sleight, thus the very creative and original winning act. a well presented classic routine vs a brilliant original routine, and the original routine wins. Is it better not to learn sleight from the classics, and try to create new sleight yourself in order to have a completely original magic? In other words, do the sleights you learn (instead of create) limits the routines you create?
