P.S.: Mendoza routine is an absolute masterpiece. None can say he can't expertly handle both a combo set and a straight set: just have a look to his dvds or listen and read his advices on the cups subject.

This topic seems to have really digressed badly. I just broke down and ordered a set since Hocus Pocus offered 33% off and will post a review when I receive them.

They aren't expensive, either. They are really barely acceptable cups.

As Mr. Palmer stated above, barely acceptable cups but not a complete wash with consideration given to the cost (plus the discount I received). The cups are brass and untreated (without clear coat) and will develop patina with handling. The balls are 7/8" and come with three magnetically gimmicked and three ungimmicked balls. The cups have a brass colored steel insert in the base in lieu of an actual magnet. They are the same dimension as the clear coated copper cups offered on Ebay from Hong Kong which are a little nicer in my opinion. I ordered this set because I have a thing for brass which doesn't surface as often. One advantage over Johnson cups is that these will accomodate a regulation sized tennis ball perfectly with little to no tolerance. When sitting on the saddle they create the illusion that they do not fit. |

I wouldn't use these if a friend gave them to me as a gift. It would be like a guitar with a warped neck. Looks like guitar, but your technique will get worse with use.
