I am learning the one in Annemann's Card Magic called "Restless Colors." Attributed to F. Jackson, it uses a move from Collins Aces.
Just last week, I performed the one in Tarbell #2 at my local Ring meeting -- I think it might be called "Birds of a Feather," but not certain... |

Phil Goldstein (Max Maven) has a couple routines with the FTL plot in his book "Focus".
Simplified FTL pg 86 Off-Balance Leader pg 87 Then the book flows into odd-even plots and oil and water.

I want to second Wingchun's recommendation of Daryl's version on his FoolerDooler's DVD Vol. 3. If Atom is still looking, this routine has a really nice kicker ending of the sort he was looking for. It's an oil and water ending, but cleverly presented as a climax to the follow the leader theme.

Oh, and a question: I found F. Jackson's "Restless Colors" in Anneman, but the description is so terse that I'm unable to follow it. Does anyone know if it's described in more detail anywhere?
Thanks... |

Hi, Bob. It's been years since my post about Follow the Leader, so I went back and looked. While I think Annemann's description is clear enough to understand, I think that first move (where you open the top 2 cards "like a book") is hard to do indetectably. So for quite a while I have only been doing "Ten Card Color Change" in Tarbell 2, page 201. This one is easier to do without detection.

Hi Joe,
Thanks so much for your response. I'll look up the trick in Tarbell. |

I like the one Roberto Giobbi teaches in his book Card College Lightest as well as in his download "Simply Amazing". It's moveless and easy to do.

Dani DaOrtiz also has a very nice version that he taught in his Utopia DVD (vol. 3).

In Steve Reynolds Output- issue 16 I put my version of Follow the Leader which allows you to get into a position to do Simon Aronson‘s Shuffleboard right after.
I think many of you would appreciate the very expedient way of getting the cards into position for FTL. https://www.stevereynoldsmagic.com/collections/all |

I've been using Daryl's method for FTL, by way of the H. Cull. I've recently purchased the Tamariz download but have not really worked at it and will hold off on commenting. I can appreciate the fact that FTL could use some sort of finale. Daryl does include a great ending, but it was just not for me.
Recently I have added an idea from Barry Richardson/Asi Wind that probably extends (or ends) the effect as a suitable finale. I can probably text or email the video to anybody that may be interested. Caution: it's not for the serious sleight of hand artist and is easy with a little practice. By the way Asi teaches the method in his Master Class lectures from Vanishing, Inc. and via his website at no charge. BWind |
