This was an idea that sprung from a memory of a game show and it's got such wide ranging application that I'm posting it for you all to ponder over.
Kights are always called Sir so you could have your Kings/Jacks being called anything with a "sir" prefix. Names I've come up with so far are Sir Viette Sir Loin Sir Render Sir Mount Sir Tain I'm sure that there are many more. I've put a few in a routine myself and they go down really well. Billy

Quite amusing but did you know that all the court cards already have names? I don't know how official it is but the names are listed in Apocalypse.

I know of the roots of the court cards (if that's the same reference) Sir Lancelot and the like. But it's not half as amusing as stating that Sir Loin was a rare character of medium build! Billy

Taken from page 1656 of Apocalypse 3.
KS-David KH-Charles KC-Alexandre KD-Cesar QS-Pallas QH-Judith QC-Argine QD-Rachel JS-Hogier JH-Lahire JC-Lancelot JD-Hector I can hear the Monty Python-esque cries of "He's making it up as he goes along!" now. I prefer the made up names, you can add Sir Ply, Sir Lee, and Sir Pository to the list

Taken fron 'The Playing-Card, Volume XXVII no. 2': “The Kings, Queens and Jacks of the standard English pattern do not represent anyone. They have never carried names, nor is it probable that they originally portrayed anyone. However, if you are looking for answers in a trivia quiz then give the names associated with Rouen pattern cards (see the "The Rouennais pattern" in the history section of the U.S. Playing Card Co. site) -- the quiz masters are unlikely to know otherwise."
It is from the "Parisian" pattern - similar to the Anglo-American pattern and the Rouennais pattern - that Harry Lorayne took his "information". Throughout history the various court card images have been claimed to represent various celebrated or political figures, but learned scholars dispute such connections with actual persons. Regards, Thomas Wayne

Interesting. Thanks for that source. I think in that case I will stick to the made up names. Now where did Sir Pent get to?

Guys
My plot for knights of the card table can not keep up! Thanks for all the new ideas, I'll have to stop coming back to this post for a few days to organise my thoughts on the direction my effect takes. Billy

Sir Plant was in a vegitative state. Sir Cumvent had somehow gotten around his scheme. Sir Cumstances wanted to prevent anyone from investigating. Sir Ply said he was De Mand to get it done and they all Sir Cumbed. In short, Sir Cumstances Sir Cumbed to Sir Ply's De Mand to Sir Cumvent Sir Plant.
I know De Mand is not a sir but you can't have Sir Ply without De Mand.

OK so after several months of pondering I have finally come up with the four knights required for my Knights of the round table plot.
Sir Round Sir Cool (Circle) Sir Cumfrence Sir Cumsize (Round Heads and Caveliers gag) The rest of the plot goes through selection of the knights, training and losing then finding the Holy Grail. Later Billy
