Any advice is welcome, but here's where I'm with my parakeet. Training is proving to be mildly frustrating and I can get the little guy to perch on my hand (after putting my finger under his belly and lifting slightly), but as soon as I move my hand 6 inches away from the perch in the cage he jumps right back to it! I cant even get him out of the cage.

I've read that using treats really helps with training, but I'm at a loss of which ones to use. I've tried every thing I can think of yogurt dipped papaya (bought from petsmart) to pieces of fresh mango and other fresh fruit. Do you have any suggestions as to what treats to use or any training techniques that would maybe make things go smoother?

Any advice and help is much appreciated.

Just get all the DVDs from Dave Womach, he is the current expert in parakeet magic.

Parakeet Magic is the title of a book published by Irelands/Magic Inc. a number of years ago. It might be worthwhile to contact them and see if it's still available...

Roman Gallino (sp) from Texas also did an act with parakets. At one time, I think Stevens Magic had a dvd of his work.

I checked Stevens Magic do not have any of the video tapes available.

I believe Roman Gallino passed away several years ago. I cannot find his 2 video tapes.
