After looking at a lot of expensive tables I got to thinking that there must be a good cheap DYI option. At first I thought of using a cymbal stand and mounitng as table top but I think I read something here on the Café about using a keyboard stand. I bought a good keyboard instrument stand at a music store for $69 that has two bars for each leg. I bought a piece of cheap wood that was big enough for a good size table top. I used a wood burner ool to put some decoration on the top and sealed it with some one part stain and finish.
I now have a large very stable table that I can use for performing all kinds of stuff. This table does not wobble at all. -Max |

Kozmo uses a keyboard stand, as do many other professional performers. Myself, I use a "Tray-Jack" stand, the thing wait-staff use to set food trays on when they're bringing food to the table, but the keyboard stand works just as well!

The "Tray-Jack" is great for still more reasons. It only takes a flick of the wrist to open. When using a small table top, like magicians typically use, the "Tray-Jack" is the right height and supports the top. I use a wooden one to support my prop case for kidshows. It still works like new, even though I've had it for about 20 years.
A keyboard stand would be way too high and unstable, when having its supports under a small table top. You'd need a long top to be adequately supported at a decent height. |

My table top is not small, so height is not an issue. I will see if I can take some pictures and post them. It is super stable at a hight I can use for standing up.

I bought laundry basket from Ikea... Was around 2 euros. Similar plastic legs as in keyboard stands. I just cut the plastic bag away and painted the thing black... Vola! Costed me perhaps 5euros, sturdy but light enough to keep my briefcase on it on stand-up gigs. My old table was musicians note stand. Sturdier black thing that worked well but weighted like 5-6 kilos.

I have a keyboard stand that I used to use along with a saxophone case. Large sign across the lid and you're set.

As a Professional corporate performer I use 2 Keyboard stands with matching cases on them-
The Height is standard for me & the cases are not too low either.. They look good, Pack flat, are Lightweight & the cases used carry the show..and very easy to travel with especially on planes etc.. After many years of shows in Hotels, Conference centres & Restaurants etc-I find these most reliable for me & matching cases with the tables looks good also... |

I use a tray jack and an anvil briefcase when performing for corporate clients. Very easy to carry in and set up and very inexpensive. I have used a keyboard stand in the past and use the same keyboard stand when doing Tom Stone's Benson Burner. Both are a bargain and very reliable.

Yesterday, I purchased this new, never used keyboard bag for $65.00 off Craigslist.
It is a soft sided case and fits my whole show into it, including the TRIX cereial box trick http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controll......=details |
