Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. Feel free to move it to a more appropriate spot if it is. I am looking for 1-2 tricks that I could do on a short local TV segment to celebrate Houdini’a birthday in March. The idea is that the tricks would be done to the viewers at home. For instance one trick I have thought of using is the four card trick at the beginning of magical mathematics. I forget the name of it, but all it would require is for the viewer at home to get four playing cards and follow my instructions. I love this trick because the spectator makes a lot of decisions on how the cards are mixed but no matter what they do their card will a always be facing a different direction than the other cards.
If anyone has any other suggestions then let me know. One stipulation is that it can't take too long. There was one that I saw David Copperfield do years ago but I think it would take up too much time. I only have a couple of minutes to work with. |

Another for Princess - in fact, its perfect for a massive viewing audience. Downside is that most people will have seen it on the internet by now.

Woody Aragon also has a trick he did at EMC and penguin lecture where the audience has a few cards , choose a card , rip cards up and eliminate cards until there left with 2 pieces that match and is the selected card , it might be similar to four card trick you mention ?
Jay Sankey Astral projection might work well too . |

It's more geared up to a few players present as its a little more 'interactive' and you really need to 'manage' those involved. I've used this as the 'ultimate' closer (well, the cards are destroyed!) at small intimate gatherings and it always goes down well - particularly as it involves everyone, or nearly everyone. (13 permissible, but preferably 12 if you include yourself in the demonstration.) Dead easy - mathematical and just your own script to memorise! (But Woody provides one.) |

Also maybe people might not want to rip there cards up at home ? That's a really good idea using it as a closer and getting everyone involved nice way to finish a performance |

Long-distance Seed Sprouting. Kathy's Screwy Finger Bit (with compliance test in the beginning that I came up with). Watch Starting. The Seed Sprouting is really good if you can do the set-up in advance, but it can also be used as an after-effect for a day or two after you've been on. Variations on Seed Sprouting and the compliance test for the Screwy Finger Bit will be in "Sacred Tricks". Brad, PM me if you want some details.
Sincerely, Dale A. Hildebrandt |
