Hey guys,
Who here has success with DG's effect 'Jacob's Ladder'? I learned it off of his 'Symphony' DVD, and I've always liked how the effect looked on video. However, isn't the trick very angle-sensitive? I feel as if it could be only be performed with one or two people that are in the direct sight line of the bill. Also, does anybody encounter difficulty preparing the bill in front of your spectator(s)? Thanks for any input! -bugboy |

Great trick but a little angle sensitive. I just tell the spectators to stand in front of me to get a better view. Works for me. One of my fav DG tricks.

Another great Garcia rubber band trick is Staircase from his 5 DVD. Great impromptu trick. I set up under their noses and it flies right by. It's worth the price if the DVD. Actually , I think that is a Marcus Eddy trick from 5 though.

Jacob's Ladder is a great affect. It can be angle sensitive, but only if you have a bunch of people. Otherwise just take a step back and then no one has a view. Or if the situation is bad just don't do it. So much magic is situational. Pick the right trick for the venue. Marcus Eddie's Staircase though has zero angle problems. It is the best bill/rubberband trick I have ever seen. It did take me a couple of weeks though to build up the finger strength to stop the bands from sliding off of my knuckles. Well worth it though!!!

Marcus Eddie's 'Staircase' does look awesome! I'll have to look into that.
I just find that with 'Jacob's Ladder' the bill preparation is tough to do, and a little knacky. I'm sure this is just an issue of practice, though, as everything is. |

Correction: 'Stairway.'

Also, what size band does 'Stairway' require? I have 19s handy.

19's will work. I've used smaller 16, it's a tight fit but will still work.

DG blew David Copperfield away with this trick.

Another solid effect by DG. Doing the prep work on the bill in front of your spectator isn't bad but it is angle sensative. As long as people are in front of you it should be ok.
