Hey Robert,
I've never seen you there. Let me know if you plan on going this year, maybe we can get together. Lots of guys will tell you stuff that is dated, i.e. the Bodensee was good many years ago, not so much anymore. The scene changes from year to year. Unless you know of a festival, what is good one year, may not be the next. The best approach is go looking for a place you like and stay there for the majority of the season. Explore. A daring sense of adventure will serve you well toward finding your own gems, which you will guard dearly as you found them on your own. One word of advice, stay away from Spain for now. Go to the countries that are weathering this prolonged economic slump better than others. F |

Another note or two,
Mike, I see your post number is low. I'm not sure how experienced you are at Street Magic. A serious word of caution: Don't go to Europe until you have a set show you know inside and out. Europe will demand that you modify your show, adding phrases in the language that make you understood. The only way you'll know which phrases need changing or translating is by experience. Much humor, unless it is visual, will be lost on another culture. Avoid big cities, known hubs of street performers. Avoid places that are known for their street performers. UNLESS you simply want a place to land and become acclimated to that culture/language. Have a month's worth of money on you in case you get sick or have trouble becoming adjusted to the local flavor. |

Eric, great posts. thank you. maybe we can get together, I would love that.
MIKE as eric said about the languages, if you go to german speaking countries: german - autria - swiss LEARN GERMAN or at least try to do your best. |

I agree good honest posts! The one thing I like to say is Spain as long as I have known it.
Which is since I was a child my mother was born in Andulucia. Spain has always been tough. Yes their has been the odd place that was good but over all very tough. On the other hand Spain is cheap you can live well and very little. Tourist resorts the police can be tough but Spanish resorts you need to be able to addapt, Remember Spain is not a tipping culture, they tip but small lose change. To enjoy Spain you must embrace her. Andulicia is very diffrent again from the rest of Spain, I consider it to be the last wild west of Europe! |

In the city of Ghent, Belgium there is a big 10 day street festival the third year of July each year which is ideal for English speaking buskers. In the city centers of Antwerp and Brussels there're always a few bukskersperforming near the touristic hotspots.

The problem here is that you have to be a member of the E.U. to qualify, normally that is. Not saying that's what's going on here, just ran in to it before in other places and thought I'd mention as much.
I hate permits. Just let me commune with the populace please. |
