I want to open a discussion about one of the most powerful tools in magic. We all know the silks, cigarettes, bill changes and simple vanishes it can accomplish. In this thread I want to hear what kind of crazy, out-of-the-box, creative routines that have emerged using the TT. It doesn't have to be a huge, drawn out routine. For instance, I was in the grocery store the other day and I decided to fry the cashier for no particular reason so I took my bill, had her sign it (everyone in line watching) then jokingly said "I actually have no idea where it went .. can somebody cover my groceries"? After a little laugh I asked the person behind me to get a bag of chips off the rack. Everybody gasped, dreading the idea that I may actually pull this unique signed bill out of the sealed bag. And pulled it out I did. There was applause right there in the store and all faces were white as a ghost. Stuff like this just seem so impossible to laymen, especially when your slowly waving your hands around empty right in front of their eyes with sleeves up. Long story short .. let me hear your most creative, insane routines that not even Darwin has tried.

I'd suggest that if you want to do street magic or surprise and delight people with spontaneous magic, go to a park (summer) or a mall (winter), and approach people who seem to be bored or looking for something fun to do/experience. People in a grocery store line are in a hurry to get home...
Having said that, the weirdest out of the box thing I've seen with TT is Pradier's chink a chink with TT's. Can't do that for laymen, but for magicians it's a blast.

I've been playing around with an idea involving a kinda small purse for smokers used to hold cigarette butts. I picked it up in a bar in Switzerland. Written on it is Switzerland, the clean country and that's what the presentation revolves around, as a cigarette placed in it disappears.

Most TT do not light up. You are thinking of a D Lite.
I'm wondering how many use the D Lite in typical TT ways. What have you tried but not been able to do. -Mary Mowder |

I sleeve a d'lite with a 18" diamond silk rolled in it to start one of my acts. I show both hands empty, produce the silk, show my hands empty again and then produce a light from within it. Not really TT though, I suppose.

Thanks for the PM. I researched the book a bit and it looks brilliant. The few pages that were exposed spoke of how he was experimenting with a goldfish and a TT. Wonderful resource. Thanks Danny!

Million dOllar switch using the TT. You could alsO do pocket writing and Place the billet into the tt only to open an envelope and revealing the billet with the prediction inside it all along

TT is the best tool I can think of in a magis tool set for an anywhere and practically impromptu miracle. Some lay people might know of it as a hanky vanisher, but for productions and switches they're clueless. I like to do T an R signed sugar packets whenever I run into them, which is almost most places (coffee). Also like the OP I will vanish items and reproduce from anywhere like bags, containers, shirts etc. Also from a clear empty plastic baggy for visually stunning effect. When I do my silk bit I start with a production from usually from another larger hankey and vanish it back into the hankey or where I produced it from. People seem to forget about the TT that way. BTW I've been called out only twice vanishing hankeys by people who knew of the TT.

A billet switch in plain sight and right under their nose feels great. To be honest I give my shuttle passes, etc. a break more often than not when I deal with smaller items. I just love the squeaky clean essence with the TT. But yes, for billet work these work wonders. |

I'll bet the Goldfish doesn't enjoy the Goldfish in the TT trick.
Try balancing the Fish's discomfort and occasional loss of life (face it, we all know it happens sometimes). This is different than a box trick. I like my Magic about wonder. I wouldn't feel so wonderful knowing the cost. -Mary Mowder |
