Hey folks, big news!
I've earned a nomination for the 2013 "Best Small Venue Performer" by Campus Activities Magazine. Each category receives five nominations from which one winner is voted on. Voting is now open for the next couple of weeks. It's a real honor, but more importantly this is a big year for magicians, mentalists and variety performers. The following members of the magic community have been nominated in each respective category: Best Small Venue Performer -Brian Miller -Adam Trent Best Male Performer -Mat Franco -Christopher Carter -Jonny Zavant Fastest Rising Star -Eric Dittelman -Chris Jones Best Variety Artist -Joel Meyers -Peter Boie -David Hall -Jonathan Burns -The Solo Circus Entertainer of the Year -Michael Kent I have met and/or seen most of these guys, and there's not a mistake on the list. In particular, this is Michael Kent's second year in a row nominated for Entertainer of the Year, the award that Justin Kredible previously won an unprecedented four years in a row. Michael lost very narrowly last year, and I'm really pulling for him. He was a huge inspiration to me getting into the college circuit back when I was still in college, and absolutely a class act. You can view all the nominees and their videos, and vote here: http://campusactivitiesmagazine.com/awards.php Make sure you enter either a .edu or private domain email address. The votes *should* come from college students or those involved with student activities for colleges. ~Brian |

Congratulations Brian. It is a real honor to be nominated. Christopher Carter (won Entertainer Of The Year 2005 I think) is a good friend of mine and I know that you have to go the extra mile to be nominated. GOOD LUCK!

Why would we get to vote?

Because there are lots of college students on the Café, and may have seen any of us. I've met kids at shows who knew me from the Café.
If you have not had experience with any of the acts in any way, then you should not vote. No different than anything else. Vote if it applies to you. Otherwise, you can enjoy the purpose of this thread, which is to spread the news of many magicians in this country being recognized by the college circuit. |

Congratulations Brian. May I point out that magician Daniel Martin is also nominated this year for Entertainer of the Year? Both Daniel and Michael are incredibly talented guys. It's going to be a very competitive race.

Ooooh goodness I missed Daniel's name somehow. An accident I promise! Michael sticks out to me because of how willing he was to talk to me when I was getting started. I have nothing against Dan. They're both deserving!

Hey everyone, thanks again for the help. My agency and other artists have confirmed that "fellow artists" are allowed to vote, so long as they use a private domain name (NOT Yahoo, Gmail, web-based emails). That means EVERYONE HERE can help.
Simply go to http://www.campusactivitiesmagazine.com/awards.php and vote for me in the very first category if you'd like to help me out. It would mean a lot. And I've got some more clips from recent show if you want to check them out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__X-yXNMn......5bg8r7b9 Sincerely, Brian |

Thanks so much, Brian. It's a huge honor to have been nominated along with some powerhouses in the college market like Daniel Martin and Mission Improvable. I appreciate the mention. By the way - this is the FINAL WEEK for voting!

That was an accident, DMM, as I indicated above in this thread. The results had just been posted and I saw Michael's name, who I am very well acquainted with. Nothing personal or intentional. My apologies, again.
