Man, this is one clever dude.
I am always proud to talk about a new trick, effect, gimmick, whatever here, especially when it comes from one of our own. Our fellow Café member, Bambu (aka Inventor, Mark Stone) has done it again with his new Coin Ditcher Gimmick. This is a kind of Topit but a true DYI version that you have to see to believe. It is a clever device that bu walks you through how to make from beginning to end, and then shows you how to use it in various ways. And did I mention he gives you a nice little history lesson on this kind of gimmick, so you get a little magic culture in the package as well. Cool! This thing will vanish any regular size coins and even 3" jumbos. The 71 page manuscript is mostly chock full of clear photos so you can't mess it up and you won't get glazed-over with too much reading. It's really pretty simple to make and to use, and shows a real tinkerer at work. We're just lucky he likes to "tink" around with magic. He's done other ebooks with crafty gimmicks and this one continues to take his craftsmanship higher and higher. You're gonna love this thing, love making it and using it. When you see it, you'll smile for sure It is very deceptive and you can use it without a jacket, sleeves, etc. It's really a pretty stealth do it yourself idea. He takes you through a variety of vanishes and gives you a cute little Tear Bag Vanish at the end that to me, steals the show, a real cherry on top usage. It's a great little effect in itself, very slick. So again, here's what you get (or get to make), a gimmick that's based on an old concept. - Coins can be made to reappear after being vanished. - No jacket, cummerbund or long-sleeved shirt is required. - The Coin Ditcher is made using readily available, low-cost materials. - Includes 71 pages of easy-to-follow, step-by-step crystal clear photos & instructions on how to make and correctly use this clever device. You might say "It'll knock your socks off!"...You'll see what I mean. This is just fun stuff, and I highly recommend it. http://www.lybrary.com/coin-ditcher-gimm......520.html

Great!
I'm assuming this differs from the 'Cosmar Coin Gimmick'??? |

Thanks MB for your review and thoughtful kind words.
Stperformer, I designed the 'Cosmar Coin Gimmick' for secretly holding, retrieving, producing or vanishing five half-Âdollar coins or four dollar-Âsize coins or for producing one or two 3" size coins. The 'Coin Ditcher' is designed mainly for vanishing gaffed coins or regular coins up to 3" in diameter. Great idea, but might not work too well if you aren't too slim.

I just got this morning and am very pleased
Quite ingenious. This will make a nice solution to cleaning up after my spellbound routine. By luck I had pretty well everything necessary for this and managed to put one together today with no problems. Been only playing with this for a couple of hours but I'm quite delighted with the whole thing. Well written with lots of photos I Like. |

Hey Café,
Mark, I don't know how you think these things up??!! A very clever "piece of something" to use as the main body of this gimmick, I know I would never have thought of that one! Nicely done and as with his Cosmar Coin Gimmick E-Book, lots and lots of very clear photos that make it very easy to follow along and construct this gimmick. You don't have to be "Tim the Tool Man" to construct the ditcher, but you will have to do some very minimal sewing to add in the retrieval portion of the set-up. Don't worry, it's not anything difficult, a little needle and thread and a few stitches. You can also just build the ditcher without a retrieval section and it is VERY simple to construct. Mark devotes a large number of pages, almost 50, and a TON of photos showing you how to do many different vanishes using the ditcher. He even has a nice routine with a brown paper bag and a jumbo coin which is a great idea. Mark is a very clever guy and if you are into coins, this is a utility device worth looking at. Thanks to Marion for giving the Café a heads up on this one! Hank |

Hank, I am glad you liked my Coin Ditcher and the Cosmar Coin Gimmick eBooks. I put a lot of time into developing the gimmicks and performing them before different audiences till I got those gimmick devices to work perfectly.
The vanishing jumbo coin and paper bag routine is also a preference of mine. I get very good responses performing it.

Yes, really like that little paper bag effect. Really cool.
And and I'm sure people respect all the time and effort you put into this to come up with such a fool proof device. Again, great job all the way around on this.

Ok BobG, thanks for the PM on this but really all I did was speak about something worth speaking about. All the credit goes to Bambu for yet another wonderful contribution to the craft here.

Take it to a metal shop as suggested in the e-book. They'll make short work of it.
