Hi guys, I have problem (maybe mentally). My hands are still wet :/. More intesively when I think about it. It is one big problem and another: if I have cards in my hands they wiil become wet, too in few minutes and their durability is low. So if you know how could I stop prespiring my hands I would be happy. If not, please tell me which cards have the best durability / price. Because Bikes doesn't last for long time.

I wonder if it would help to rub a little antiperspirant on them before you perform. What do you have to lose ?

For most of my life I suffered with sweaty hands.
When I hit 50ish they completely dried and now I'm like Todd with extremely dry hands. I have been searching the internet for lotions, creams and snake oil, and have found nothing that works well yet. I've even tried to mix my own. BUT, I am much much happier with my dry hands. It's always something, or Nothing is ever easy, is it? |

Guys, one more thing: and what about plastic cards? They can't be wet (even if they are you can wash them). The durability is better. Is it harder to do magic with them?

Not all plastic cards are the same. I picked up a couple decks that work great for me. Even magicians that were not used to them were able to use them very quickly. They are not for everyone, but the right deck of plastic cards could be a good solution.

Hi Paragon.
For magic - You might also want to look into getting a card press. I recently got one to get started with card manipulation and it helps lengthen the life of my cards. For health - For medical advice, you should consult your doctor. Your doctor knows your medical history and can physically exam you, and he/she is the best person to ask for help. For your information, I've included some current medical information that you can ask your doctor about (source: Smith, CC and Pariser, D. Primary focal hyperhidrosis. In: UpToDate, Basow, DS (Ed), UpToDate, Waltham, MA, 2013... this is a medical database used by health professionals in the United States). Hyperhidrosis, also called excessive sweating, is a common condition that may have social, emotional, and professional impact. It is most commonly a chronic condition whose exact cause is unknown (idiopathic), but other medical conditions can cause sweating. A form of idiopathic hyperhidrosis where the sweating is located in only parts of the body (such as the arm pits, hands, and feet) is called primary focal hyperhidrosis. About 1-3% of the US population has hyperhidrosis. For your information, other possible causes of sweating are 1. being in a hot temperature, 2. menopause, 3. spinal cord injury, 4. eating spicy food. The diagnosis of primary focal hyperhidrosis involves focused, visible, excessive sweating for at least 6 months duration without apparent cause... and at least 2 of the following: - relatively symmetric, affects both left and right side - impairs daily activities - at least one episode per week - starts before age 25 years old - family history of excessive sweating - focal sweating stops during sleep While the exact cause of primary focal hyperhidrosis is not currently known, patients typically have "normal" sweat glands. For now, the best guess is that the cause is related to abnormal signals from the brain in response to emotional stress (i.e. these patients don't necessarily have emotional stress problems, but their nerves are producing an over-exaggerated response to emotional stress no matter how minor). Treatment (for educational information only... ALWAYS seek your medical doctor for treatment appropriate for you) A topical treatment for mild conditions is over the counter antiperspirants. These have a low amount of a metal salt (usually aluminum) that blocks the sweat glands. This usually only works for patients with mild symptoms. For patients with more severe symptoms, doctors can prescribe prescription strength antiperspirants that have larger doses of salts. There can be skin irritation, which can be reduced by applying to dry skin between sweat episodes, at bed time, and washed off in the morning. Sometimes, hydrocortisone creams are used to alleviate skin irritation. There are other medications and procedures, such as beta blockers and botox, that have been tested in clinical trials to treat primary focal hyperhidrosis, some with very good success. I won't describe them here, but I recommend that you make an appointment with your doctor and ask about it. |

They are Royal brand plastic cards. I got them at the local Red Balloon Toy Store, though it seems they are out of stock. A quick search found a site that sells them. I have no experience with this online store, but those are the exact brand and design I have. Fans are a bit tricky because the cards are slicker then Bicycles, but all of my other routines and flourishes work fine. http://www.unclesgames.com/product_info.......id/13638
