I remember Princess Tenko performing a similar illusion to this on a tv show called The Best Of Magic. If you can find a link to that Im sure will enjoy. Sorry I don't know the name though.

If you are looking at the one with the staircase it is a "Vampire" or "Creo" effect. Blackstone Jr. did it with a toy soldier. There have been many versions and many variations on the loading.

Bill's right (as usual) Vampire Illusion it is. And here is this version shot in 2006 and performed by the Korean magician Lee Eun Gyeol (listen to the audience reactions).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aVXRn1SV9I And here is yet another version as performed by Philippart and Anja in '08 without the magician transposition at the end : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-sqyd8COSo

I know I am not going to make a friend of at least one person in this post but I did not like the Hans Klok version of the illusion. I felt there were way to many people on stage and it got very hard to follow what was actually happening. I really liked the version by the Korean magician Lee Eun Gyeol. It was not a busy stage and it was very impressive, in my opinion that is. I guess I am just not a real big Klok fan although I think he is a good performer. Anyway thanks for all the links here and especially to Harry for the link to Lee Eun Gyeol. Anyway my 2 cents.

Steven I totally agree with you on the Klok presentation. That is why I posted Lee Eun Gyeol's version. I've seen Gyeol perform this and it wows an audience. It is a clear and clean presentation.

That it was Harry, the routine was beautiful. I hope I did not offend the OP because sometimes fans can get pretty toucy if you say anything even remotely negative about their idol. Heck I used to get upset when I was a lot younger when some young magicians made fun of Mark Wilson. I have learned a lot over the years.

I partly agree with you, the stage is very full and busy indeed, but it looks bad because it is filmed in a way that it looks bad. when you are really there, it looks very good!
I think I am the only one who finds the other presentations boring (just my opinion!) because I am used to the style of Hans Klok, and I like his presentations and music. |

Young friend, some things are a matter of TASTE.
Did you also see the other performers live on stage? Only compare if the situation is the same and don't blame the guy who filmed it.... |

Hans Klok always looks so hyper active...
He must get a good cardio workout every show. ![]()

A friend of mine used to be 'close' to Hans Klok and he told me that Hans, together with David Copperfield, is one of the hardest working magician today. on a showday he does an hour and half workout, gives interviews, pre-sets some of the smaller magic, rehearses his card manipulations, rehearses the lightbulb and whatever he is working on that day, checks the pre-set and his illusions, does his show and spends time with his fans after the show.
Hans is on tour in germany at this moment and most of the time they have a new city everyday, meaning they have to set the show, perform the show & tear down the show in one day! I don't think many illusionist are as hard working as HK so he deserves every succes! My friend told me that he got tired just of seeing Hans work ;-) |
