Nice find. I noticed that these were fairly petty criminals, not the high profile types we usually see photos of. Plenty of stories for routines here.

My dear Brynmore 13 - a calico shirt is a calico shirt when all said and done. If we didn't hang them what next - theft of a gentleman's britches!
It gets even better because there is a searchable database as well http://apps.bedfordshire.gov.uk/grd/ I'm going to have to give up my day job or find an extra day in the week |

And even better than that the Bedford and Luton archive website has a whole lot more including historic documents and a map of the prison. I shan't be going to bed until late tonight
