In my opinion some of the best effects a magician can perform are what Michael Ammar coined "those that are frozen in time". this is an exercise to see how many routines you can think of where the end of the effect is frozen. Here are some:

-bent coin in spectators hand
-card on ceiling
-personalized unshuffled
-pen or pencil penetrated quarter
-bottle cap in bottle
-anniversary waltz

What are some others?

Common think! Let's get the ball rolling. Don't be a troll. Participate. This exercise might make you rethink some of your material.

MagicMason... that could only be included if the cards were left with the spectators.
Is that what you meant?

Dr. Boris Zola's Silver Extraction> where the silver is removed in a lump from a half dollar and the coin is clear, but all the impressions, including the milling on the edges, are still there. Great trick!

All of the effects you guys have mentioned are good. I feel many of them don't qualify. I'm talking about those where the spectator is left with an impossible object as a souvenir.

Fraud is a great one.
Mismade bill is good if you leave it with them.

Any others?

Foolsnobody,

Both great tricks but they don't qualify.
The 3 1/2 would if the card changed to that and you gave it away at the end.
I'm talking about something they can show there friends the next day as evidence that magic happened.
Not just a signed card but an impossible object.
See my examples above.

Hi Jim - Let me say first I love your material. You are really a top notch performer and a great teacher too on your dvds. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to spend time with us.

Regarding Color Monte, I guess I was loosely interpreting "frozen in time". To see "you owe me 14.00" stops them in their tracks. It ends clean. It leaves them gobsmacked!

Jim,

How can you list "card on ceiling" in your original post?

If you do card on ceiling in their home or in a place they visit frequently then they can point to it and explain to others exactly what happened. Plus the proof is there. The effect is frozen in time.
