I've had two pairs of doves for over ten years, but the two pairs never got along... The pairs were kept separated. I just lost one bird to liver failure despite trying meds and his blood work was inconclusive. I would like to introduce another bird to the now lone female. I tried reintroducing the female to the other pair, but she can be aggressive and it's looking unlikely. Do you have any recommendations on the gender of the new bird to go with the female? I've researched plenty on methods and timing of introducing birds, but thought I would look for thoughts on gender here. I don't know if another female would be a safer bet since she can be protective of her space. Any thoughts are much appreciated.
