I'm just reading a book about magic in history. From the Egypts to the 20th century. People levitating, people climbing up ropes and disappears etc.
But does anyone know any mentalist changing the history? Who, when and how? hjelm Sweden |

The problem is defining mentalism, assuming that we do not accpet the dictionary definitions... Most "mentalists" are imho actually magicians. Shame really.
Maybe you need to research psychics who changed history? |

I would say there are several mentalists who changed history.
Robert Houdin, although not a mentalist, used the Light/Heavy chest to convince an opposing army that he could rob them of their strength. As a result, they surrendered. This would definitely be considered mentalism, and altering history, IMHO. (I THINK it was Houdin, I could be wrong.) Then you have the brothers who did the spirit cabinet which inspired Houdini to start doing escapes. Houdini obviously changed the face of magic and of show business in general. He was also the first person to fly an airplane in Australia. Also, without him becoming a superstar, Metamorphosis would never have been created, and 11,000 illusionists would be out of an act!! LOL And it is all due to him seeing a spirit cabinet performance. (I should know the names of the performers, but I cannot think of it right now. Possibly the Davenports?)

Yes, Hanussen, "The prophet of the Third Reich", is really interesting! And so is the Routine from Bob Cassidy: "The Hanussen Proof"
