So I was looking through my books and videos, and I realized there aren't many (atleast none that I can find) magic tricks that involve just one or two cards and no deck.
So magic Café, are there many if any tricks that involve just 1 or 2 cards? (also is it weird that I feel bad for starting this thread?) |

Two Card Monte (Deland)
Ben Harris's Hoodwinked Card Warp Harry Lorayne's Linking Cards I have used all of these at various times. There's a particular feel of being asked to do a trick but NOT pulling out a deck of cards; rather pulling out one or two leftovers from your wallet. |

Ross, is Harry Lorayne's "Linking Cards" similar to Paul Harris' "Immaculate Connection"? Just curious...

The handlings are very different. Lorayne's version - in Quantum Leaps and Classics Collect v.3 uses two cards. Harris' version uses three cards. The links look different and are accomplished very differently. They are both wonderful routines. Having said that, in Art of Astonishment by Paul Harris, there IS an effect that bears SOME resemblance - in one phase - to Harry Lorayne's effect. It's by Sylvain Marouf and it's called Osmosis. Lorayne's is Ok and is impromptu, but it often does not stand the test in front of an audience. Someone may now say that I do it wrong, but I do not think there's a right/wrong way. It's simply not that impossible to figure out (IMFHO). mlippo |

I saw Harry L do it in person. It was a miracle. I have tried it myself: it's miraculous, sometimes. Other times, people say, "Oh, but you're just...blah blah blah," and point out exactly what I'm doing. Harry's personality is a big factor in making this one fly, IMO.
Surely there are other tricks with just one or two cards? |

TC, There are plenty if you take in consideration Color Changes, Transpositions, Ambitious Card routines, etc.

You can add pretty much any T&R type effect to the list.

Perhaps a torn and restored routine like guy hollingworth's reformation would count ??

Only seems obvious because of camera - never obvious when working for a live audience. At least, not when I perform it - which I've done for audiences all over the world, for decades, perhaps ten thousand times. Suggestion - obvious, of course - if it's obvious to lay audiences when YOU do it - DON'T DO IT!!! How simple.

I think it was because I was thinking of how to explain the appearance of the Harris effect versus yours. Either way it's a great effect as is Paul Harris' Immaculate Connection. Best, Vlad |
