Beautiful piece of magic, Craig and Alberto... your illusion told a story full of imagination and completely resonant with Alberto and Laura. I loved your little touch the contortionist box. The timing was perfect, I felt that the instant suspicion begins to build in the back of my mind you surprised your audience with movement. I agree with Dahih; I think the slightest sign of life of contortionist Laura in the co-box would send shivers down my spine. On the other hand, I could imagine contortionist Laura suddenly opening her hand against the glass window and Alberto covering the box with the curtain immediately after. Just the brief one second glimpse would make my imagination run wild and wonder what did I just see in your co-box!
Congratulations to Alberto, Laura, Craig, and their team. It was wonderful! |

I don't know what all of the fuss is about..
Original presentation, brilliant concept flawlessly executed, well defined characters, a plot that is magical and concise, meticulously constructed props that make sense, a true piece of story, art and theatre coupled with great stage presence!!! That's not what magic is about these days!!! Where is the bad choreography?! Where is the mismatched motif? Where is the cheesy dancing and laughable posing?! The lack of stage presence?? If THIS is what we have to look forward to regarding the future of magic - then it may once again become a viable theatrical art form that audiences respect.. NO THANK YOU! P.S. - I want to see more! |

That was simply amazing. No other way to describe it. Damien666 I agree with what you said. To much hokey stuff and not enough beauty often enough anymore. Thanks for the post and amazing work on the prop. Shows what real workmanship and great stage presentation can bring about.

Wonderful stuff and so nice to see no awkward poses for no reason and high energy music just for high energy sake. Great presentation and a lesson in how to take a purchased illusion and make it your own.

That was just beautiful. Fantastic performance and stunning props!
Craig, if you (or Alberto) don't mind me asking, is there actual wood used in the prop or is it all metal painted and weathered (or covered in veneer)?

Alberto is one of the few (with Rafael, Philippart & Anja, and some more) who prove that illusions don't have to be done with the rock-music/jeans/chicks/aggressive lights/smoke/macho style...!

Mvmagic- Yes, there is some stained wood in the table construction over metal framing. I believe in choosing the best materials to construct a project, not adhering to an " all metal" philosophy just for the sake of it. When I hear that mantra it reminds me of the saying- " when you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail!"
Jim Steinmeyers design is a clever and restrained application of industrial steampunk details that never crosses over into looking like an actual machine that does all the work. Less is more. Smart philosophy.

Craig, that is very very cool. I am a huge fan of your work! I thought it looked like real wood there. I am with you there, making something all metal for the sake it being all metal is just pointless.

I love how all the seperate elements made sense AND came together just right to make you believe that what you were seeing was a true miracle! Kudos to Jim & Craig for designing and building an incredible illusion and to Alberto for bringing it to life with his own twists and performance.

I can only agree with all the positive comments.
However, the only two negative things I have to point out are : First, and this isn't the first time I have to regret, but the TV filming of magic acts in this TV show could be much better. I think they don't take enough time to bring the magic correctly over on the home TVs. A lot of secrets can be seen. Even laymen point this out a lot. Secondly, and this doesn't comes from me but from my parents in law, which aren't into magic. They thought that the act was a little bit "too complicated" to understand artisticly. First they thought that the little box with the tube was a kind of camera to catch the girl and so they didn't understand the steampunk bottle... But this is their opinion. I thought it would be good to transmit their thoughts, so please don't misunderstand. Anyway, to me, this act was great in presentation and originality, as all the acts of Alberto. And soooooo different !!! Keep the good work rolling Alberto. You're, what I call a real artist. Oliver. |

The performer has given purpose to this unusual and cleverly designed prop and beautifully worked with the basic prop by adding a few other great bits of business. Well done Craig for a amazing looking prop, Jim for excellent illusion design and Alberto for great vision and a masterful routine! You'll made your routine look logical, with a hard prop to do that with. Truly excellent!!!
