I am first and foremost a book guy. Love Em'! Have 165 in my Magic libray. Love the thought of a book with a DVD of performances though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have ordered this set and am looking forward to it, in the touch of heart routine is just the one phase shown as per the youtube videos, or is it part of a longer routine?

This is one of my favorite dvd sets not only because the magic is so incredible, but I can do much of the material. Most "card" dvd's, I can't. The performers are incredible, but the material is far past my level.
The material on All In looks like move monkey stuff, but most of it isn't. The beautiful filming and Jack's teaching make it within the reach of anyone that knows their DL's, Elmsley's, etc. Just the basics. |

Poor Uncle Joe is such a fun routine to perform.
Imagine is a killer mentalism trick. Don't pass this one by by of you can't do a classic force. I use a cross cut and it works perfect in this routine. The first part, where the selection turns face down in the face up deck, has a Brainwave feel to it. Touch My Heart is one of the greatest 2 card transpos ever. This will be remembered as one of the best card magic dvd sets ever produced. |

Here's the Touch My Heart routine:

Jack,
Loving the DVD. Practicing chunks of it now. Still having trouble figuring out what's going on with that Table bluff shift but I'll get it eventually. And I love the 451 stack. It's loads of fun. As to your poll, I'd say Book and DVD as well, but only if the DVD shows performances for an audience. I'd like to see how these tricks play "in the wild" as it were. If not, I vote for a book (maybe consider an ebook?) -D P.S. As soon as my riffle stacking gets a little stronger, I'll be sure to be one of the 9 guys doing the hybrid stack. |

Beside touch my heart, running the aces (see above) I like hustler's rip (a great three card monte routine), poor uncle sam (kind of 6 card repeat with kicker), the vanishing, Four (logical set up for a interchange routine), than the sleight section (Barstool steal, 1-2 switch, the retention switch, etc), and... oh there is a lot to like about this DVD set! Great catch (and free of shipping cost using the flat pack option )
Regarding the discussion DVD vs. book: I tend to prefer a DVD as I like to see the live performance. Thus, in case of book I would like to get DVD/downloaad with the performance of the tricks. |

Hello Jack,
I haven't got the DVD's yet but I am sure I'll get them in the next weeks, specially after the comments here. I have the "An Evening with Jack Carpenter" DVDs and I really enjoyed them. As for the DVD vs. book: I prefer the DVDs, I like to watch the performances and I find it easier to follow the explanations and the moves by watching them than by reading them. |

I will always prefer book over DVD. With that being said, the All in DVD is great because of the talent sitting around the table: Tyler Wilson, Zach Lambert, Chris Mayhew and Ben Train with Jack discussing every move and routine.

I've been re-watching these over the weekend ( a great set can always be revisited and you can pick up new things ). The filming is beautiful and Tyler Wilson, Chris Mayhew, Ben Train and Zach Lambert were so professional. They just leant Jack support and asked pertinent questions.
Oddly enough, this isn't a move monkey set. Thanks to Jack's concise teaching, most of the material is well within the grasp of anyone that knows the basics of card handling. Look at the trailer at 00:38 and 1:05 into it. Those ace cutting routines are SO EASY: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3347 |

I assumed this set would be largely knuckle-busting, finger-flinging stuff and was reluctant to pick up a copy. The comments here have changed my mind.
Also, I know Tyler Wilson and Chris Mayhew personally so it'll be fun to have a DVD with some of my friends around the table. I also know Ben Train but I'll still buy a copy. Just kidding, Ben. I love you too. |
