I bought my first wand two months ago from a Swedish dealer. It looks VERY nice. It´s fantastic to spin, it never stops, but it´s impossible to do the strike vanish because the wand is too heavy!! After the upward tilt the power needed to break the movement and strike downward is just too much.
I had to exclude the strike vanish from my cups and balls routine I´m working on because of this. And no, I am not weak. Can you recommend any good wands, I mean, weight-wise?? Håkan |

Try holding it from the middle to, it uses less weight.

I´ve tried that, but then the wand is in the way.

If you are looking for a REALLY nice wand go to the Hocus-Pocus website and look under the Joe Porper section. That wand is made of cocobola and ebony. I have one. It's the perfect weight for the strike vanish. It's a bit pricey, but you'll have a quality wand that will last you a lifetime.

Honestly, the mercury wand sold by Michael Ammar is a good one. It's metal, with a rubber sleeve. It looks good, is perfectly weighted for spins and the rubber really helps prevent it from slipping. I have some other wands, but I really like this one. I'm pretty sure that some fellow Café members use it as well. Also, it's fairly inexpensive.

Thanks for your answers. I will buy a Joe Porper wand the day I get lucky on Lotto...or when I get the nerve to lie to my fiance about the price. Until then, I´ll try the mercury wand.

To quote Eugene Burger, "Magic teaches us to lie without guilt." Go for the Porper wand.

Mark, I believe you are right. I will never become a powerful sorcerer if I can´t even lie to my fiancé.
I used to think I was on my way to becoming a skilful magician, but after meditating on the words of Mr Burger I feel that my road is still very long. **** it! I WILL get that Porper wand! And I WILL lie to her! I mean, that would be good for me, to develop as both a magician and a human being. Thank you Mark. HÃ¥kan |

Eric,
I'm trying to tell Hawkan to go ahead and lie to his fiance. . .and not feel guilty about it. Mark

I don't know. When I got my Tarbell set I left them in the car, brought them in one at a time, and told my wife they were all the same book. By the time they were all in she hardly noticed all eight sitting on the shelf. heh, heh. And I don't feel guilty about it either.

The Chicken inside me ordered Ammar´s wand, and I got it today. It´s better than I expected. But... I´m having trouble with the striking vanish even though it´s light. I can do the vanish very well with a pen/cap, but this is something completely different.
Better start practising. Next time I´ll by the Porper wand. Promise. Håkan |

In sports they talk about overload-training.
You train in less then perfect circumstances, then when you switch back to normal circumstances it is much easier. So train your striking vanish with a baseball bat and then use your wand again

Thanks for the good advice Dan. I tried it with a baseball bat the same day, and today I finally came home from hospital. Just in time for Christmas.
