So there is no proof that he can perform...
Gregory Wilson is a very good performer, and he does show it. Kenton Knepper is a very poor performer, but he only talks about it. |

I have read some of his work and it did look a little like Kenton Knepper. Many things that may look good on paper but won’t (or at least, not much) work in real life performances. I have read almost any book KK has ever written and most things I had read (especially the usable info about making your performances stronger, connecting and influencing), where things I had already read many many years before in books about hypnosis and NLP, but was only slightly changed to fit the magic style and magic community, that are standing in line to buy the newest tricks or method, just following like a lemming. Well be my guest, I think if I can REALLY see someone perform once. I can judge if audiences and reactions are real, if camerawork has been done honest and fair, and if this person can perform and/or really has something to offer me. I’m not sensitive for friends hyping friends! |

I have mixed feelings here, Paul Vigil is a great performer and magician (read the reviews of his show in las Vegas) but Jerome Finley is a Smoke seller, How is it possible no to have a single recorded video of he performing? how is it possible to write about mentalism and no have one single show in which he performed mentalism? I think he is a very clever guy which does his psychic readings and mixed with Sangoma/traditional healign and spiritual teaching, etc ...and that's it .and then he sales his books for a lot and always find some people willing to buy them. But believe me if you sell your books so expensive , you must think that the author makes good money performing his stuff, and now a workshop to milk the curious cows.. but again Paul Vigil is with him which gives credit to Jerome. I don't know.. He said he wanted to do a lecture at Penguin but then he's not. it's Shame we could have seen him in a "real performance" and yes after wathching Kenton Knepper at penguin , yes he is a very poor performer with good ideas.. it's Jerome the same?? let's see

Jerome does not release video footage of his shows, get over it everyone......there are too many thieves, not only thieves of methods, but also thieves of PRESENTATIONS.... I don't blame him..... Why can't people simply respect the right of a performer creator to his privacy. He is MORE than generous with his time to those who legitimately want to learn his effects, and that's all a customer of his could ever ask for. Show him the respect he deserves, WANT TO LEARN from him, be humble about it, and grow as a performer....heck grow as a person..... Humility is a great quality which unfortunately needs to be introduced in the mystery performance field, because its just so lacking, even non-existent at times Kam

I may be somewhat new to mentalism compared to most here, but I'm no noob to performace. How does a performer promote themselves without video footage? For promotion and gigs. Fans even? What's the point of a cool routine if no one gets to see it? None of this makes sense to me.

In other threads both Alain Nu, Docc Hilford and Paul Draper have testified to seeing Jerome perform and to his skills.

As far as how he markets himself, I don't really know the details. I wouldn't be surprised if there were videos available for bookers, and I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't. I understand, both from some of his works and from his time as "chef's special" here on the Café that he is very good at promoting himself through free events, up-selling at events and generating word of mouth. Those don't require video footage. I am not a full time performer, but most of my performances come from word of mouth and in response to ads. I don't have any videos on the sites and while I do have some video recordings of a few of my performances they aren't very good and I don't show them.

His persona gets large amounts of work from word of mouth, I would suggest, predominantly. How many psychic readers promote their work through performance videos? How many transcendental meditation teachers promote their work through performance videos? How many Reiki practitioners promote their work through performance videos? Kam

I know clubs that won't book a person unless they can 'see' them upfront. But then again, I have no idea of Jerome's reputation wherever he is and I wasn't challenging it for that matter. I just thought the video thing was a little weird. I mean, I still see Derren Brown videos that make me go 'ere, how'd he do that'? I wouldn't worry about peons stealing some methods. |

I think everyone here just wants to see Jerome perform. Maybe he will release some dvds in the future.
