I haven't really checked it out yet, but at least gdw practices what he preaches.
Lets see- you can buy his "Mobius Switch" from Blue Crown for $17.95, or you can get it for free from one of those torrent sites. I do believe that I will get it for free and deprive little Evelyn of some food or clothing. I mean, honestly- I was not going to buy it anyway, so I really am not doing anything wrong, especially since gdw does not have a problem with it. And I'm not taking any physical item; it's just some IP. The food or clothing is not something that was hers to begin with, it was just something that she could have had. And he's OK with that. I really feel bad about it, but I'll get over it I guess. I have my principles, but if you don't like them, I have others. My apologies to Groucho- copyright issues again. Whatever happened to Brian Brushwood? |

First of, I don't believe in public property aaa valid concept in its current conception. It is funded through threat of force and theft via taxation. If a large group of people collectively agree to co-own something, then that is their joint property, so they would have a right to kick me off their property, or prohibit me from being there in the first place. As for beastiality, one could argue animal rights, or one could argue that animals are "property" which can be owned, and thus you would likely be "violating" someone property. I would not necessarily argue that animals have rights, but I there already is a demand for animal humane services, and people care about animals being abused. I doubt many people would support someone who's abusing their pets when a neighbour takes then and offers them a better home. I know of many cases of people doing this in neighbourhoods where people knew someone was treating their pets badly. Similarly, I doubt people would back up an animal abuser if the local animal shelter group takes his pets either. Those of more libertarian mind sets consider ostracism, similar to economics, as a significant component to solving many social issues, and even what many would consider moral issues as well. Basically, only defensive force is considers justified under the non-aggression principle, or NAP. As such, even if animals were considered "property," an animal abuser would be hard pressed to find anyone willing to support him or her in a case of a claim that their pets were stolen, let alone a security, or insurance company that would offer coverage under such conditions, nor a dispute resolution organization to side in his favour, or, willing to enforce such a verdict/settlement which sided with the abuser. If there WERE such people trying to actually gather customers, while maintaining practices of giving animals to abusers, then they would be in for bad business. They would be boycotted, and others would offer services guaranteeing they don't support animal abuse in their contracts, or adjudication services. Quote:
Here's my view of IP protection: I have information that I created and "the only way it's going to get out there is if I make it available. I'm only making it available to people with whom I am making a contract for a service or purchase, etc, and said contract would address any potential violations of that contract, and the "punishments," if you will, for doing so. If I DO make that information available, or it becomes available through some violation of my property, then I would be able to [enforce a pre-determined punishment or stop the violators], thus minimizing potential losses and damages." Absolutely 100% agree. If you can make that work, more power to you, I'm. Completely behind you, and I've said that all before. I wish you good luck trying to developers a perfect network of agreements to keep that information sealed in. I imagine marketing might be tough, as any information you use in your marketing would be available to anyone. Not a big deal, but you can figure a lot out from an ad. Obviously many magicians are able to see through the method of many effects advertised, especially with demo videos. If you look at tv commercials, and movie trailers, you can get a pretty good idea of the story/concept behind the film. People could still make knock offs. "Music on the radio Come on baby make sweet love to me" You'll have no contracts with third parties who might come to posses the information through legitimate means and other such loop holes if you will. But yeah, if you can make it work, go right ahead. I am personally of the opinion that you'd have more success with another business model, but it's entirely up to you.

I'm a musician and I've released two CDs with my band. If you think you own the IDEAS on those CDs and you attempt to do ANYTHING you want with them, my lawyers will come after you, as well they should. Don't you dare claim you didn't enter into an agreement when you purchased my work, because it's printed right on the case. I allowed you one copy of my CD, you own a COPY of the songs and nothing more Ever dealt with ASCAP? To get permission to use a song you have to get it from everyone OTHER than the band who performed it. That's a little messed up to me. Mind you the music business if pretty screwed up to begin with. (I'm sorry I couldn't help this one) You want to see how much owning something matters to the big companies? Sift through the EULA of certain software. They claim you don't own s#!& and are just leasing it and they can take it away from you at anytime they want. How's that for some big brother BS?
