Can somebody give me advice. I am not a beginner in coin magic. I have been reading modern coin magic several times. But now I am looking for a book or a video/dvd with up to date basic material.

Up to date is NOT basic. If you want the foundations of basic magic, check out the Galloway on Ramsay videos.
David Roth has a few videos out on routines that are both managable and quite magical. Perhaps you would enjoy the Rubenstein and Ammar videos?

Book: David Roth's Expert Coin Magic, by Richard Kaufman.
DVD'S: Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic. Can be obtained from Penguin Magic. Michael Rubenstein's Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights vol 1 - 3. Can be obtained from L&L Publising. Also check out this link: http://www.coinvanish.com/ A site totaly devoted to coinmagic. Peo

I think Kaufman's "Coinmagic" is a great 2nd book.
It's a good compilation from a variety of coin men. David Stone's videos also have some great 'intermediate' coin magic. |

Yes, it is out of print but several places have it.
Magic books by post in the UK is great for this sort of thing |

My experience with dealers that have certain rare books on their lists, is that they actually don't have that book.
Recently I tried to purchase three rare books from a dealer, and I later got an e-mail with the statement that they were all out of print. Go figure. Maybe Magic Books By Post have Coinmagic, then again, maybe they don't. Peo

I would go with Jeff McBrides 3 volume videos on coins, Balls and Thimbles.

Thanks guys for your information. But what is the difference between Kaufman's CoinMagic and Expert Coin Magic by David Roth??
|
Doug Conn Loyal user 212 Posts |
Kaufman's "Coinmagic" contains magic from MANY different magi. (Including Roth's best "Stuff")
You'll find techniques and tricks from guys like: Geoff Latta, Sol Stone, Marlo, Vernon, Slydini, etc... The Roth book is just that: a book of David Roth's coin magic. Both are great. |

Roth's book is also more advanced in my opinion.
Hence the title. Peo

Roth does have several video tapes. Do his books carry the same info? Does Kaufman have video tapes or DVDs?

Doc Rubensteins Encyclopedia has great demonstrations for the basics as well as some more advanced ideas.
It is a great way to pick up some building blocks. Between those DVD's and the two I got from Reed M and Curtis K my coin magic bar has been raised a few notches. Harris
