Hi all
Just a quick poll/question which magician out there (not including the big names like Copperfield etc) do you feel has the best website that attracts clients and the reason why you think its the best ? There are so many styles and opinions lets hear yours ? |

"Best" is specific to the target clientèle, the performer, the product offerings, the competitive environment, and others things. I think your question is too broad to be useful.

The best web site, regardless of market, would be one that not just attracts, but converts people into clients. Since you would need serious insider knowledge to know if a site actually converts, all anyone here can offer is a site they like and why. I've found over the years that some things I liked about sites didn't create conversion. You'd get a more informed response by talking to professional internet marketers of services. (Please note - of services!)

I agree with both of the posts above. For sure, the original question is way too broad to provide a useful response. While I agree the best answer would come from professional internet marketing companies, it may be helpful to hear from others in this field if the parameters were tightened up quite a bit.

Not mine. I know 10% or less of my clients have seen my website. That's fine. It's just my brochure put into HTML anyway so they've already seen it.
I have a pretty good mailing system though. Bazinga! |

While I have 3 sites - 2 currently up and the 3rd down to be reworked.
it really comes down to what works for you and your clients. if it is getting you biz then its a good site but if you are just asking who we think has a cool site of course many would say DC or lance Burton have cool sites. but while I think my sites are pretty darn good http://www.samsandler.com and http://www.deafinitelymagic.com I would give the winner to my friend Harris the III http://www.harrisiii.com his site is flawless in many ways and sells who he is right from the get go. sam

I've had much better luck gaining awareness and clients through Facebook. But, as I continue the grind, little by little I make changes to ensure that one day the site will be that thing I wanted it to. So far, nothing beats face to face conversion. |

Matt, I'll wait until I can hire a professional to do my SEO rather than wasting my time on something I know I'm not good at. I can design my website just fine, but after that it's not in my strengths to optimize for search engines.

I have a pretty small territory and only travel as far as I can go, do the show, and get home in a day; about 200 miles. I use direct mail for my venues (mostly schools, libraries, preschools and senior homes) and the website is mostly just a backup brochure. So, for me, SEO is not a big deal. I still work at it once in a while, mostly just to learn, but most of the inquiries I get from the website are from out of my area. I haven't even put any videos on it, but I'll be doing that soon - mostly for fun since it's not my main way of reaching out. As Sam said, different ways work for different people and their situations. I doubt my way would be very good for anyone and I know I could do it better for myself. But I just put my efforts elsewhere for now. I do check out other's websites and make notes though. Many of the guys here have great sites. Bazinga! |

Ok - I just viewed James Munton's new site http://www.jameswand.org and have to say hands down it is the most captivating site I have ever seen. Perhaps this is because as a young child I was really into Spy University, but I believe any potential client who views his site has to at least contact james to find out how much his show is and if he has availability.

The best site? The one that makes the phone ring and on a consistent basis.
