No not socialist friends, I'm talking about you as a friend......
...the intended nature of this thread was to have a rich discussion on the subject of social transformation, but you keep prosthletyzing and preaching about your own stuff when its not relevant, why? Kam

Just curious, Tommy. Who are you calling "socialists?"

What I am saying Bob is, that the Baha'i are a New World Order, communist Lucifer worshipping cult, that this so called rich discussion, is a another thinly disguised piece of propaganda out after socialist transformation whether anyone here knows it or not.

So tommy, tell me, whats the source of the Baha'i Faith being
a. communist b. Lucifer worshipping c. a cult d. propaganda engendering? Once we all see your source for all these claims, we can start taking a single word that you write a bit more seriously Cheers Kam

"We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence.Â
This house, dedicated to work and debate in the service of peace, should have one room dedicated to silence in the outward sense and stillness in the inner sense. It has been the aim to create in this small room a place where the doors may be open to the infinite lands of thought and prayer. People of many faiths will meet here, and for that reason none of the symbols to which we are accustomed in our meditation could be used. However, there are simple things which speak to us all with the same language. We have sought for such things and we believe that we have found them in the shaft of light striking the shimmering surface of solid rock. So, in the middle of the room we see a symbol of how, daily, the light of the skies gives life to the earth on which we stand, a symbol to many of us of how the light of the spirit gives life to matter. But the stone in the middle of the room has more to tell us. We may see it as an altar, empty not because there is no God, not because it is an altar to an unknown god, but because it is dedicated to the God whom man worships under many names and in many forms. The stone in the middle of the room reminds us also of the firm and permanent in a world of movement and change. The block of iron ore has the weight and solidity of the everlasting. It is a reminder of that cornerstone of endurance and faith on which all human endeavour must be based. The material of the stone leads our thoughts to the necessity for choice between destruction and construction, between war and peace. Of iron man has forged his swords, of iron he has also made his ploughshares. Of iron he has constructed tanks, but of iron he has likewise built homes for man. The block of iron ore is part of the wealth we have inherited on this earth of ours. How are we to use it? The shaft of light strikes the stone in a room of utter simplicity. There are no other symbols, there is nothing to distract our attention or to break in on the stillness within ourselves. When our eyes travel from these symbols to the front wall, they meet a simple pattern opening up the room to the harmony, freedom and balance of space. There is an ancient saying that the sense of a vessel is not in its shell but in the void. So it is with this room. It is for those who come here to fill the void with what they find in their center of stillness." http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/dag/meditationroom.htm What if anything is the difference between this and Baha'i?

Seeking to understand how the minds of conspiracy theorists actually work, I found the following article at Psychology Today very interesting and illuminating. It's called "Field Guide to the Conspiracy Theorist: Dark Minds." The entire article, which focuses on the almost mind numbing theories of Alex Jones, can be read at: http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/......rk-minds
A brief excerpt: Quote: Information is the conspiracy theorists' weapon of choice because if there's one thing they all agree on, it's that all the rest of us have been brainwashed. The "facts" will plainly reveal the existence of the conspiracy, they believe. And while all of us tend to bend information to fit our pre-existing cognitive schema, conspiracy theorists are more extreme. They are "immune to evidence," discounting contradictory information or seeing it as "proof of how clever the enemy is at covering things up," Goertzel says. |

Thanks Bob, illuminating indeed, but I think tommy is capable of saying positive, non-conspiracy related things, for example in the Habemus Papam thread, he said:
"In choosing to call himself Francis, the new pope was associating himself with the much-loved Italian saint from Assisi associated with peace, poverty and simplicity. St. Francis was born to a wealthy family but later renounced his wealth and founded the Franciscan order of friars; he wandered about the countryside preaching to the people in very simple language. So I just read. He has a kind face and a good smile. I think I like him." Deep down, considering his little knowledge of who the Pope is and he says he "likes him" compared to how little knowledge he has of the global Baha'i work on fellowship and community development, and he says that they are a "cult of communist Lucifer-worshippers", begs some serious questions about his intentions.... Tommy doesn't strike me as unhappy - he's occasionally bloody annoying, but I'm sure we're all guilty of that from time to time, especially me.
A 'rich discussion' generally involves more than just congratulatory agreement, which my gut feeling from how you respond to criticism, is all you are after. I honestly can't see anything knew in the paragraph you quoted - admittedly I couldn't be bothered reading anymore - the writing was trying too hard as I said to dress things up as revelations that really were not. We already have systems in place which can empower people in their communities. The fact these systems have evolved over a very long time does not make them obsolescent - it usually makes them 'tried and true'. Western civilisation has it's faults, and there are things that need working on, and not a single individual member of it has achieved Nirvana - our quest for Utopia has eluded us - but goodness me, we've come a long way from where we started - fairness, equality before the law, a good chance at a decent life, freedom to live as you like - we have not achieved perfection in any of these but a much greater percentage of the population have a much greater degree of those things than ever before, except I suspect, in the fevered imaginations of social transformers. Social transformation needs to come gradually because it doesn't all work and there's always the dangers of Brother Number Ones emerging. You Kam, escaped Iran - and I'm glad for you that happened. You seem to have a good life here in Australia. I know I do - not much to complain about at all. Why would we risk losing what we have for unproven theories that only aim to achieve what we can already do within current systems just for the sake of trying 'new thinking'. There is very little genuinely new in this world - a lot of very good thinkers came before us. Just as an example of the problems of 'social transformation' - The US, Britain, Australia and many other countries have had armies, advisors, engineers, instructors etc etc in Afghanistan for over a decade - and we haven't even convinced them yet that it's wrong to stone their women to death. |

On 2013-03-15 04:40, Destiny wrote: In general here, Destiny, I agree with you Do you therefore feel that all protagonists in the community are intimately involved in the "development" of their community? While, here in Australia, we do have a so much good happening, there are so many problems its not funny. How about teenage girls consenting to anal intercourse so that they can maintain their virginity? It happens in nearly all schools, its the "in" thing....yes we don't stone our women here, but the social problems are swept under the carpet much better here You are 100% correct, these things are not going to be resolved with a single cataclysmic "event"....the statement in question here talks about processes, conceptual frameworks, learnings, utilization of knowledge to "advance" communities, but most importantly processes. Having a community adopt a "process-orientated" approach addressing the deeper, root-causes to these problems, rather than superficially address them with curerently available "empowerment" programs has, and continues to be, the key concept that persistently fails to be recognized throughout history. Please don't just agree or disagree for the sake of it, add richness to this discussion by describing any personal experiences Kam

So then we are all agreed on the fact that there is no difference at all between the Baha'i and the fact that Bob kindly provided us with. I see no argument raised on that point at all. I wish to make sure there is no dispute about that. That is before I move on to the Altar etcetera.
