Kon Artiste by Jim Magus. Perfect bound. 128 full-sized pages. Edited by Prof BC
If you frequent this particular spot of the café more than the others, I’m guessing the author of this book needs no further elaboration, much less an introduction. If the name is new to you, start here. This is the first book I’ve seen from Jim in quite a while, and I wasn’t sure if there was going to be another, simply because I couldn’t fathom what else he could come up with that would equal his previous output. Of course, just like a certain unstoppable band from Canada, he proves me wrong. The short version: this book is an astounding stockpile of tips, routines, advice, and extra-dimensional exploration of the K*nx@ri cards –which are intended to be part of a séance and ghost hunting event. No doubt you’ve probably heard of them already. Not sure if these were intended to be used as bizarre magic props, but you’ll be completely convinced by the time you get to page 5. The first item on the agenda for your exploration? “The Improv Séance” – nuff said! Basically, the cards themselves remind me of a twisted version of the props from clue/cluedo; you have cards for rooms, characters, locations, equipment, victims (!), time, obstacles, and messages. Most of what’s in the book revolves around a séance routine of some kind, although the last chapter contains a bunch that are not. Also included are ideas for use with a pendulum, Ouija, and some of our favorite items from a certain Mr. Roth and Mr. Nadata (Ipsw*ch, and something about a girl’s diary….name begins with an “L”…I think ), and contributions (including a st*ck) from Prof BC. Writing about this feels like trying to describe your favorite food. IF you have this item and you don’t have this book, I think you have royally short-changed yourself. Jim makes a comment in the book that mentions “practically no one knows the first thing about K0nx@ari” – and that alone hints at boatloads of potential for us bizarre practitioners. |

You're welcome. Very happy to hear it! I'm not good at reviews, and it was hard for me to describe what's in the book, since it's hard for me to describe the subject matter. I was very tempted to just post "This is awesome! Buy this, buy this now!" |
