I posted the following in another post about middle school workshops.
Usually I ignore these type of remarks ""but" ...... One never knows what will come out if a middle school students brain. Bob, my Spring fox was first called a ferret. Then another student said , It looks more like a "turd" Following that line were lots of pauses kids and my making Did I just hear remarks. Waves of laughter and What,.did he say. He said what.., It was South Park meets Mr. Rogers meets Robin Williams meets Dr. Phil. The events and timing probably will never occur again but at the time a few excuse the situation ...., running gags ...Worked well. In sharing later that day the situation it drew only blank looks both from students and staff It was truly one of those - you had to be there. Yes I know it was truly use of low type humor. I continue to learn a lot in shows for kids this age. Can't wait till the next one first hour on Thursday.

In a recent post on another thread I wrote about mixing comedy moments with drama.
In yesterday's hour I wrote above we also discussed the death of a student before the winter break. It was a day I called The Day our School cried. It's great to have 2 jobs I love. ...and even better when they intersect. Harris Still too old to know it all

While I think it is wise to not do all shows requested, I love working with teens.
Earlier in my mental health career, I had the attitude of never working with teens. 15 years ago, after working in with D.O.C.(department of corrections adult maximum security clients/inmates) I decided to apply to my present job. Lots of materials in working with teens that can work as running gags in my family as well as library gigs. Just thought of a running gag for this summers Every Hero has a Story. It might be....This is a JOB FOR SUPERMAN!. THIS IS A JOB FOR LIBRARY MAN. This is a job for the custodian?

I always thought Mac King's fig newton running gag was genius, and tons of fun.

I'm familiar with Mac King, but not his act or running gag.
Fig Newton's and other "familiar objects" are fodder for consideration for running gags.
