Due to overwhelming response, we were extended at the Quad Cinema in NYC until May 16. You can buy tickets at http://www.movietickets.com/house_detail.asp?house_id=216. We also open in Los Angeles at the Laemmle NOHO 7 this Friday, and run May 10-16.
"A generous sprinkling of tricks and illusions will appeal to fans of magic." - New York Times "A believable script, and a handful of genuinely hilarious gags" - The Village Voice "Highly likeable comedy about magicians in all their trickery...Gold, who wrote and co-directed Desperate Acts of Magic with Tammy Caplan, is himself a former birthday-party magician, and this slight yet quite endearing film benefits from the scruffily observed authenticity he brings to it, as well as a nicely dry sense of humor and full awareness of the absurdity of both his premise and profession...The film is rife with entertaining feats of legerdemain." - Film Journal International "Fun. Inventive... Solidly entertaining... 8/10...What makes this film impressive is an unending parade of magic tricks performed by experts and filmed without editing tricks or special effects." - Mark Leeper's Reviews "Does for the world of magic what 'The Wrestler' did for another profession based on illusion...If you have ever dabbled in magic yourself or if you simply want to see a well-written and well-directed character-driven romantic comedy, check out Desperate Acts of Magic." - Louis Proyect |

Hi David,
Eventually there will be a DVD. But for now, you can bring the movie to your city by hosting a screening. This doesn't cost anything. You don't need a venue or a screen. Just go to http://www.tugg.com/titles/desperate-acts-of-magic and request a screening. Thanks! - Joe |
