My brother is getting married a lot later in the year.
HIs wife and him are pushing the idea for dove magic. I'm seriously thinking about getting the materials and dove very soon and getting the learning materials to start training. I like the idea, I was wondering if doing magic in a kind of close up setting is at all practical. I know a lot of dove magic is done up on stage, is it practical to move this into a close up environment? In respects to a simple product/vanish? |

Are you planning on just doing a production and vanish or are you looking to do an entire act? Or are you planning on doing some closeup and introducing a dove? Before getting into the actual feasability of this, have you thought about what you are going to do with the dove after the wedding? Sorry if this sounds basic but too many people jump into dove magic not realizing what it takes to care for the dove, training requirements and then finding out that it's really not what they want to do. You're stuck with the dove.
Care and feeding is expensive if you're not totally into making it part of your act. As for doing dove magic close up, it absolutely can be done. You MUST be sure the dove is completely comfortable with close up gatherings. Dove are fidgety and it doesn't take much to spook them. Training solves this for the most part. Basic training takes about 6 weeks and then comes the training for the actual effects. The cost for keeping one dove starts with a cage ($35 for a good one). Food and vitamins come next. Doves are messy so you must have time to keep it clean. Sorry to rant a bit but I've seen too many guys start off with good intentions and then run into problems.
