I am looking for a review of Esoteric Kennedy. The video on the Stevens Magic Website is pretty impressive looking.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a nice day, Walking Bob in Iowa |

Bob, this is a great effect and is cleanly, very cleanly performed as in the video. The beauty is ( for me) no threads at all which again, for me always tend to fail at the wrong time. Anyway, this is a very strong close up effect and there is really very minimal to hide. It can be done very up close and the angles are fantastic. I allow the coin to be freely handled at the start and at the end as for some folks, it's been a while since they handled a Kennedy hald dollar and others never seen one. recommended.

I can understand you making your claim. What I don't understand is why you quoted me at same time? Had I known for a fact about original creator, I would've surely mentioned it. I didn't. Additionally, this thread was about a review needed for the effect, that is what I wrote,

It's not a claim... absolute truth. And I quoted you, because you gave it a glowing review. And I would hope that bringing up these facts would cause anyone who read your glowing review to think twice about purchasing it.

I had no idea about the originator either. No way to know... I hate when that heppens!
When I first got into magic I bought a "Card to Box" not knowing it was a ripoff of JK Mystery Box. Anyways, looks like you can get it here from John himself: http://www.johncornelius.com/magic.html Great effect and the one above sounds better than what I got. .. I plan on getting it from the original now. Mike |

The first time he had ever sold an effect that hadn't originated with him. Anyway... it wasn't just a few months later that John brought a rip off copy back from a psychic performers convention in Chicago... and over the years folks have either outright ripped off the idea, or released products with subtle differences... but in all cases, the special card that made the magic happened was basically the same. I've seen it advertised as the "Spirit Feather" (made a feather stand up on the back of a card) and even just with in the last year, I found a dealer from Singapore selling the EXACT same trick. Over these 40 plus years, no one has attributed the nexus of the effect to myself or John. Such is life. |

Unfortunately that happens way to often in magic. Thanks for the background Al.

I purchased "Esoteric Kennedy" some time back, and really enjoyed it. It's a fine pocket type effect. All it needs from you is some presentation skills to make it or break it in the spectator's eyes.
Sadly, I have LOST the one I purchased. The Kennedy half included looks EXACTLY like an ordinary half, and in fact, it is, with one miniscule alteration in order to create the magic. So if you have several Kennedy halves, keep them seperate, or you will suffer my fate! Yes, it's true. I miss this effect and wish I could afford another one. It is very similar to an effect I purchased from Hank Lee, called "Spirit Feather", in which a small feather rises up on the card, instead of the Kennedy half. But like I said, presentational skills need to be high on this type of effect, because the action is so simple. ( Half dollar rises up, half dollar slowly descends down.)Â In order to make it look "magical" your personality as a magician and worker of miracles must shine through, or else, an effect of this type simply becomes a "trick"; a "puzzle" (imho)
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

It "floated" a flat half dollar off of the back of the card, from one edge to the other, it hovered across the back and came resting down on the other edge of the card. The "Spirit Feather" raised a feather stand straight off the back of the card. If you think about it, you still could do the effect the way it was invented... using the card that you have left, without the coin from Kennedy. |

Al, I remember reading the ad for "Unseen Forces" way back when it first came out. (At Hank Lee, if my memory is correct?) Anway, for some reason I failed to purchase, but it sounded really cool.
Is it still around on the market for purchase? Daff

Cool! I have one of the original Unseen Forces from way back. I didn't know much about magic back then. It's great to find out about the original creators. I do like the look of the event better with the original.

Im certain most here, as Mike pointed out are not looking to buy a Non Original item. A question was asked, I answered. If that bothered you that it was a glowing review as it should be as its a fantastic effect, then such is life. Another train of thought would be this: Every possible review you can find about this effect proves this trick to be a horrible item. Do you now take the same position? In closing, guys this effect is fantastic, purchase it. Purchase it from the originator. It happens all the time with copies being marketed. Just ask Steve Duschek about such things. |

If you want to continue this, in a crappy tone, I will be glad to oblige. And I have been on this site (you spell it "site" not "sight") for almost as long as this site has been online. I didn't accuse anyone of trying to purchase a "non-original item." For a matter of fact, go back over this thread and you will see I never suggested to anyone that they shouldn't purchase the Kennedy item. I was simply trying to add some facts to the discussion. So put it back in your pants... |

Sorry, but you must be reading Rizzo comments with anger in your heart, as I do not read his posts as Crappy but explanatory in nature, actually you have him on the defense.

Looks like from your explanation it is a totally different trick. Do you have a video of your product? John Kennedy (the magician and inventor, not the past president of the U.S.) does not have any such trick listed on his site! So how is Steven's ripping you or anyone off, when no other trick like Steven's product is on the market. Please explain. |
