Hey all. I posted this in the sideshow forum, but I forgot to try here... I have a question. But first a bit of background. Ive been eating fire for about 13 years, give or take. I do it about every show and have maybe averaged 50 shows a year. I just went to the Dr. and they took a blood test. The liver enzymes were high. I figured it was from alcohol. I am not an alcoholic, but have drank more in the last year than I had ever before. I stopped drinking that month and took another test. They said it was still high and want to do an ultrasound.
Question: Has any one else been in a similar situation? What happened? or heard about this happening to a fire eater? |

There is a saying in sideshow, "You never see an old fire eater". Mind you this phrase comes from when they used gasoline. Fire eating can cause liver issues especially if you do it many times a day (say in a grind show). I know many people who take Milk Thistle and say it works well for liver health. My suggestion would be to try that and lay off the fire for a month or so if you can help it.

Do they suggest taking it before fire-eating, after...or as a daily regiment?

I looked it up and it says once a day with a meal so I'm not sure when matters. Most supplements take a bit to work anyway so I doubt it's an instant thing.

Hi Kameron,
As a fellow fire eater I recommend taking activated charcoal before eating fire to absorb the toxins that absorb through your mucous membranes. Additionally, since it sounds as though your liver is already overloaded, there is a potent liver cleansing decoction recommended in "healing with whole foods" containing peony root, dandelion root and several other ingredients. Milk thistle is good, though gentle. Considering that your liver enzymes are already elevated, I'd break out the big guns. Best of luck to you. |
