The other day I was doing my l33t Markus Pokus No-Nonsense show for some kids of about 6 or 7. They really liked the magic but this one kid came up to me afterwards and said "watch this". He was only 7 but he took my cards and did the Tom Owen Simple Switch (like Blaine does on his first TV show). I flipped out because this move is TOUGH. But he taught me how to do it and now I use it as an opener for all my shows.

Was this child's name perhaps Paul Harris, Jr?
Thought: Why does man kill? He kills for food. And not only food: frequently there must be a beverage.

Man, I tell you, you gotta watch those little brats now a days! Too much Blaine material available, and some little whiz bang prodigy can make you feel like two cents! They're smart alecks! What do you do? You never know when your'e going to run into one of them, and I suppose all you can really do is lay your hands on their heads and bless them. Confer upon them the blessing of the magic gods, or something.

BTW, I love kids. As far as magic, they are our future.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

A good response is:

"Im-pressive! Obi-wan trained you well!" Done with a big grin and a firm handshake, I always follow it with a hearty, "Welcome to the Family of Magic. Keep your secrets secret and do your best to amaze people when you perform."

The kid walks away glowing and the parents know that you are a good person. Good karma confetti all over the place, too.

Good Lord... As if it wasn't bad enough when Paul Harris said his baby sister could do the move...
