Hello guys,
Where is the place to get a death mask? A fake one would be cool. I am working on something and this would add so much to the overall feel of the routine. Best Ray |

I can second Mark Thorold, he recently created me a new one for my routine 'The Death Mask' from my book Resurrection Dreams.
His work is amazing! - Anthony |

A lil late, but better late than never. A death mask is a fun project to do with a friend, all that would be needed is some liquid latex, plaster of paris (strips are preferable), release agent (petroleum jelly), water, paint, and time. Essentially you would proceed with taking a mold of someone's face using plaster bandages. The face, this is very important, has had all of the hair and skin covered in a layer of petroleum jelly. Once the mold is made and has dried to the point that it can be removed from the face without deforming or cracking, proceed to clean it and let it cure. Once cured basically you brush several layers of liquid latex on the inside of the mold. Peel and powder, paint it and viola.
Though for those that are less crafty, Halloween mask stores online often do custom works. |

You have given me an idea for a routine, the cogs are whirling and I think I will have a go at making one of these masks, I will post here if it is succesful, and if the routine works.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

Ray,
Now it is your turn to do what I did to someone else. The next opportunity that comes along, go for it. Jamie

I was involved in creating a series of life masks of local celebrities for a fundraiser, where local artists decorated them for an auction. We pressed high-fire clay into the plaster molds that were made from the live models (clay shrinks as it dries, making it easy to remove). Any local art centre can provide clay, and most likely fire it for a nominal cost (just ask. I know from experience that local art centres are friendly and welcome such inquiries). A clay positive looks fantastic. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g104/o......gner.jpg |

Hi Guys if you ever need a Life Cast or "Death Mask" I am a special make up effects artist working in LA I can make them out many different materials from plaster to silicomes. I have made various body parts for magicians before.
