We went rhubarb the painful process. Once you convert your personal page to a fan page, you will no longer have a personal page. You should make a new personal page as you will be limited on what you can do and how you can interact with people. For example you. An be tagged in photos as a fan page.
Ou can download all your info, photos, etc. But that is only for your own use on your computer. There is no way to upload all that previous contact back to your new page. Hope that helps.

Generally when creating a professional page and setting up as a business, public figure, organization, etc, it is always wise to use your existing email you set your personal page under. This way, you can easily manage your professional page from within your personal page.

Have you invites your personal contacts to like your page?

Nice try but fan's are strictly voluntary. Why don't you send invitations with a link to your fan page to all of your email contacts inviting them to become your fans.
Great point Dave. You can make a post on your wall inviting all of your friends to become a fan as often as you like.

You can literally send an invite from your Facebook page to all of your personal contacts under "build audience". It sends a notification directly to your selected friends

You can invite them, but not force them.

If you change your personal page to a fan page...all your friends will become likes by default.

Are your facebook friends the right kind of people to be your facebook fan's? I recruit my facebook fans from my local community because most of my facebook friends are other magicians who are never going to hire me.

Just remember that ONLY "personal profiles" can join and be members of “groups” on FB... NOT PAGES. So if you are a member of any 'groups' you will loose all your group access/status and YOU (Your Personal Profile) will vanish from all the groups you are a member of (If you are in any groups…) and will not be able to re-join till you have a 'personal profile’ to join with... if that matters to anyone. – Just another FYI to consider is all...

Welcome to the magic Café. You seem to be the exceptions to the rule, but if you only have 10 magician friends I would recommend that you get more actively involved in networking with the magicians in your area if you are serious about performing. Now that we have figured out that puzzle I suggest you read the words of wisdom from my friend Deano.

Dean is spot on regarding what one will lose when they change their personal account to a fan page.
We had go do it as our personal page was Livingillusions. We already had the vanity URL and needed to change it to a fan page for marketing campaigns. It was the right decision, but it has not been a fun task

I'm with you...I also have no idea what going rhubarb means. LOL I was typing it on my iphone and was trying to type through. I have tried and can't recreate whatever it is I did to make it show up as rhubarb.

Haha. I don't have one of those but I heard they do weird things sometimes.
I thought it might be a phrase I wasn't familiar with. Maybe I'll make one with it: "Man, that was so painful it was like going rhubarb." Or, "Don't get too close to that barr (bear). It might go rhubarb on ya." Thanks Kevin. Bazinga! |
