April's envelope contains a nice mental effect you can carry in your wallet or on your key chain. Easy to do and a real fooler. Professional looking prop. That's all I will say.
Plus some positive changes for year 2. Terry |

I opened the envelope today and thought I opened a different envelope because of what was inside. lol. This is HIGH quality. Talk about organic, serious mentalism.
I'm REALLY thrilled with this! |

The second word on the prop is misspelled. In LARGE letters.
Is that professional looking? Is that high quality? The praise given here so freely does not seem to match up with the actual product produced. |

and? the comment was about quality and professional looking product. [/quote] Try to follow along Sponge. The comment was about a misspelled word. I have performed this several times and, as expected, nobody has noticed. |

You think people didn't notice. So? what does that have to do with the argument?
try to follow along. The argument is that a professional, quality item should be proofread. Do you disagree? Is your argument "since our spectators don't care, we shouldn't care?" And as a side note, just because people don't say anything doesn't mean nobody noticed. s |

Actually, the misspelled word lets you do a small effect in itself. You just say " I bet you didn't even notice that "*" was misspelled. Could be hypnosis, observation.
Roll with it baby, roll with it. James

Do you also say, "I bet you didn't even notice I'm wearing a fake thumb!"

I don't know what the misspelled word was, but I'll bet it was on the ninth grade level.
How sad! :bat: |

If people who received this were complaining I could understand. But unless I am mistaken, everyone complaining does not subscribe to RS. So what is your purpose here?

But we can still express our opinions, Jim.
Sorry, but I come from a time and place where things like proper spelling count for a lot. Bad spelling by a professional organization is like fingernails on a blackboard for me. If you're one of those guys lamping on the corner with a blunt and Colt 45 and you don't care, fine with me. Some of us do care. And I know (through mentalism) that you are not like that, Jim. I'll bet that deep down inside you really do care about it, but you just don't want to rock the boat. And just to make it clear, the misspelling was brought up by a member who appeared to be bothered by it. All it takes these days is to turn on spell check. You don't even have to crack open a dictionary. Even a forum such as this has some rules concerning spelling and grammar and acronyms, although I don't know exactly what they are. But I know that there are Grammar Hosts and Hostesses here to try to restore order to grammatical chaos. :bat: |

4 times this morning I've performed this and I think it's one of the most hard hitting pieces of close-up mentalism I've come across. Those that know of/have performed the stage version that inspired this will understand the power.
We all search for that one thing to perform when asked to do a trick. The one thing that makes it look like we have nothing on us, that's impromptu, but will make them believe we have magical ability. I found mine with this Real Secret. As far as the spelling, it can be a non-issue as it has nothing to do with the effect. If it bothers you, it's easily covered as you hold it. I can say that after the reactions I got today with it, because I also got asked for my business card by one person ( I have none;-) I do this just for fun, but it does feel good when asked. Ad you are correct, it's not the trick, it's the performer. I'm sure like many of you, I get asked for a card frequently. People pay $40k for car and it gets recalled because it catches fire under certain situations. To me, that's a serious quality control issue. MIllions of dollars are spent making films and sometimes they contain blaring mistakes. If it's a good film, no one cares. News organizations ( million dollar corporations ) put text on the screen and many times they spell a word incorrectly. How could this happen to an organization that deals in the presentation of facts? Humans are involved, that's how it happens. lol. For this trick, if it's an unforgivable mishap and you are unhappy, send it back and ask to be dropped from the club. No one should ever buy things and be unhappy. Before you ask for a prorated refund, perform it one time. If you get the reactions I did, you won't care about the spelling of one word. If you don't blow them away, by all means, leave the club. It's your money and you should be happy. |

Zombie, if I was a member and this trick is very good, I would perform it without question.
But every time I pull it out I'd be looking at that misspelling and saying to myself "What knuckleheads". It's kind of like a situation with "Glance". The baseball team "Red Sox" was spelled "Red Socks". "Socks" is the correct spelling for more than one sock, but "Sox" Is correct for the team name. Two people that I have performed this for have noticed that error and commented about it. Around here the Red Sox are a much hated team. What did I do- cry about it and stop performing it? Heck no! I made a comment about the knuckleheads in the financial world knowing absolutely NOTHING about baseball, and moved on. But if they reprint "Glance", I would highly recommend that they correct the error. And no, I will not buy another if that is the only correction. :bat: |

I'm wondering if the questioned word was not simply a matter of one letter being lower case instead of upper. That would explain why it passed the spell-check, and why it also goes unnoticed as your eye passes across the word. Who, who owns the effect, noticed it before it was mentioned here? I had to look several times to just find it and I'm fairly good at that type of thing.
But...it gives the dissers something to dis and chew on, so I guess the almost unnoticable error has some value to it after all. Excellent effect, well done, and plays as well as you can make it play, IMO. Well worth the loot.
