I just gotten this. Its slightly different from 7 foot pole, etc. There is a gimmick to hold the bread and ways to dispose of it are mentioned in the instructions. Its a pretty good effect. Pack small / plays big....errrr...bread.

I just received this, and I agree, it is different from the 7 foot pole concept. And, yes, a real baguette would need to be pretty similar. However, it is very realistic looking, so if a real baguette were of the same general dimenstions, it really could work. It definitively would work to put it in an apparently empty bag, remove a real one (if similar enough), and then roll or crush the bag as if empty.
I agree it would be a great idea for Pangu Magic to start a subsidiary bakery, making identical real baguettes. I'm sure they'll get right on that one. Seriously, I have seen similar sized baguettes at one of my local markets. By the way, the effect also comes with an additional gimmick that in my opinion, could also be ditched in a bag routine. Now that I have it, I would say that I am not dissapointed. It's not exactly what I was thinking, but, actually, it is more realistic looking that what I thought. I thought it would be a stage only prop, and now I see that while it's not really a close-up prop, it could be done at a distance of 5-10 feet pretty convincingly. For what it's worth, I recommend it. KJ |

There is no way that this can be used bare handed in any setting but straight on. Exactly straight on. It's perfect for a demo reel. That said, I do like it and may attempt to place the little cage assembly into a small box to produce the baguette from there.

I received this the other day. The prop is well made/designed. I wouldn't exactly say it packs flat. Maybe it would fit in a jacket pocket but not in your pants pocket. Well, it may fit but it would look like a "bulge" in your pocket. It comes with the baguette and a holder with a one sheet page of instructions. The instructions are clear and to the point. It works smoothly and the production of the baguette looks as it does on the video. Is it worth $60.00- I don't think so. Is it worth $45.00 Penguins price-I don't think so, but maybe. I say maybe because that part would have to be a personal preference for your ability to use this and what you need it for. The prop does look real. Will it last- I think so. I will say I am very interested to see reactions I get with this. Yes, as Doug B mentions earlier, the angles will have to be just right to pull this off as you can also tell from watching the video.

RNK, thanks for the update. The angles and price are what kept me from getting it. If you have some success performing with it, please let us know.

It does look beautiful. It seems like a unique twist on a suddenly appearing magician's wand.
My initial thoughts are, though, that I'm not sure where I would go with the presentation after I'm holding the "bread". Maybe 1KJ is on to something by placing it in a bag, you could state: "Promised mom I'd get this right to her" as you are placing it in a paper bag. Hi IKJ: "(... Torn and restored elephant? I don't think that has ever been done.)" ---that was awesome! Thankyou for making me smile |

With the right audience and a loose pair of pleated pants, it could be kinda funny to produce this beast from your fly. Probably wouldn't have to worry about anyone asking to examine it.

Reading this thread has me in shock. How ANYONE can be seriously talking about this product the way they are blows my mind.
What the hell is the point of producing a freaking loaf of bread? Why does this product exist? More importantly, why have people actually convinced themselves they LIKE IT!?

I am guessing you have never heard of Monty Python movies. You should watch a few of those and you will witness a whole different realm of comedy which this product would be great for. RNK
