I'm pretty sure that Buckley would disassociate himself from most of today's conservatives.

He did, especially after they fired him from the magazine his father founded

Which is one of the reasons why the conservative movement is in such trouble these days. They've ousted their intelligentsia and replaced it with deep thinkers like Palin, Bachman and Perry. Smile

My apologies to you as well.

Good thoughts,

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

Why is everyone here so cool with Woland calling all the tunes. I for one would like a new DJ.

Woland is our digital equivilant of the cranky old man who lives at the end of the street. You know the one who sits on his porch and shouts "Hey you kids, git off my lawn!". As annoying as he might be. the neighborhood wouldn't be the same without him. Sure, he lowers the property values. But life would be a duller place without him turning his hose on the occasional passerby he takes umbrage with.

It's our job to be his nemisi by playing our music too loud, wearing our hair too long and running over his mail box from time to time. Smile

If he weren't surrounded by people who think that the lawn belongs to everyone, there wouldn't be an issue.

And if you were allowed to kill whomever you wanted, there would be no murder.

We don't do Mischief Night in Southern California, but it would never happen. I got the Halloween spirit!

On Halloween at dusk I go to the end of my cul de sac dressed all in black with a hockey mask on and I juggle flaming torches for the whole neighborhood. All the kids around here call me the juggler.

Al, that's mighty nice of you to perform on Halloween night for the local folks.

;) Well said Payne.

Don't believe everything people write on their posts (except Payne Smile ).
I sometimes will post things just to get a conversation started or to start an argument. I don't come to this forum for an education, although sometimes I do get educated. I come here for fun and to hear what other's opinion's are on various topics.
I have no doubt that I have upset some and maybe insulted other's but that is never my intent. I respect other's and do my best to treat other's the way I would like to be treated.
In my opinion, the World would be less interesting if everyone thought the same way and believed in the same things (wouldn't leave much to talk about).

Payne is one of my favorite performer's to watch and listen to. I respect and admire Payne but I do have a number of disagreements with some of his beliefs and opinion's. My disagreements with Payne in no way influences my positive opinion of him.
Sometimes I sense a bit of tension between some poster's and that I just don't get.

As far as allowing some posts to remain here on the Café, adults should not need censorship to protect them.

It is good to know that I am not the only one here who has gotten tired of the I fear the future topics that prevail here. How about a couple topics that proclaim it is good to be alive in the 21st century. The gloom and doom topics are very very depressing you know.

Public parks belong to everyone, yet there is vandalism in them and theft as well.

Start some threads that please you.

You should not read the "gloom and doom" topics. I think you do enjoy the "depressing" topics, otherwise how would you know they are there? And why do you respond to them?
