At first hand this makes me think of a design of Jim Steinmeyer, published in the 90s in Magic Magazine.

Seems I remember reading something somewhere about using glass for blades... Maybe it was for a version of the origami. Anyway, my thought is you would need a reason for having broken glass as in the origami.

This is almost identical to the original PT Selbit creation. He used steel instead of glass, however. I'm not entirely sure how this works! Change a simple element like steel to glass and you can fool me. Lol.
