In another Forum the very knowledgeable Laurence O posted,

"Our task is to offer the fleeting and poetic dream that life might be lighter if magic existed."

His point was that becoming too focused on the techniques of our presentation may loose sight of the essence of the art.

How does the choice to present "mental miracles" address this issue of the "observer's dream?" over other approaches to offer astonishment?

For me, the ideas that performers "offer" something is intriguing. Is the "taking" less important?
