He's looking like he's going to be a very interesting new character Jim, looking forward to watching the progress on this one.

Yes, I can already see he is going to be different, which is cool, and I've no doubt it's going to be a very good different. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he looks like when he is all done - but then I was doing the same "looking forward" with all figures you've made.
(although mine is still my favorite Smile )

Thanks for the encouragement Dave.

I will be working to complete a few figures to bring to the ConVention this July and keeping my fingers crossed that I will actually be able to make it there as planned as an anonymous person has generously made my attendence possible. I have also reserved a dealers table.

After that I will be returning to woodcarving and only building ventriloquist figures infrequently.

As has been mentioned in other threads the market for figures just isn't that large.

Woodcarving allows me to reach a much larger market and while I love carving/ building ventriloquist figures the small market and low prices I have sold my figures for just does not in any way justify the many hours I put into a figure , hours that could be spent with my wife and children and woodcarving . I am not a wealthy person and figure building has proven to be an expensive hobby, a luxury I cannot afford.

I am truly appreciative of everyone I have " met " here at The Magic Café and gratefull for the encouragement and support you have unselfishly given.

To the many persons off list who have emailed to thank me for the progress pics and progress threads and advice that has helped them to build thier own figures , you are welcome.

Well Jim, I'm glad to see "infrequently", at least that means you won't be stopping altogether.

I totally understand though, you turning your main focus away from making figures. As I was talking about in another post, and you mention here, it is a limited market, and a market that's been flooded since info and kits became available. It makes it harder than ever for someone to get a decent price for something that takes a lot of hours to produce. That's why, when someone comes along, as they occasionally do, asking about making figures as a business, I'm quick to tell them that if you figure the hours, against what you can sell a figure for these days, they'll be making less than minimum wage.

Hopefully, you'll still hang around here at The Café.

I remember having that discussion quite some time ago via pm and you were correct about less than minimum wage.
I will continue to frequent the forum as I love ventriloquism and have met many fine people here.

You've made some very nice figures and I love the baby you're currently selling, had I not just purchased Edgar I'd snap him up for sure.
