Acecardician, your review would mean a great deal. Maybe when you've had time to work through it? Thanks!

Mine is in the post and will be glad to give my thoughts when it arrives - I hope tomorrow. Assuming all is clear and straightforward, I may even have chance to put it into practice during an informal engagement tomorrow evening.

As promised here is my first look at the Self Bending Paperclip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWd-E_OHmBg I've been playing around some more since I filmed it and have figured a nice way to do it in the spectators hands. I'll upload a bonus video to the website tomorrow, those that have bought from Saturn Magic will be able to access using the part number shown on your invoice as the password. Order yours here http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/s......e-1.html This really is great well done Menny.

When I get it I will post a review. I will not be getting it right away, but I put it on my Penguin wish list for next time I order. According to Saturn's review, It concerns me that Menny reserves video and TV rights. I did not see that in the advertising. I hate it when someone sells their item and then tells you you do not have the rights to perform it as you please, and you do not know this until after you bought it.
To me that is wrong. Also, I cannot carry a glass around with me. And no, glasses are not readily available when I work. I saw nothing about a glass on the Video Ad. So now I am confused.

I also cover the TV rights thing and why it's there, Menny is not saying you can't do this on video or TV just that you must ask. I asked if I could use it in any of my promo's etc and he said yes. I also cover the use of the glass it's just one way to do this, you could place it on the table and cover it with a card or napkin and the clip will bend, you can also put the clip in someones hands and do the bend. This is a very nice effect and I'm sure more ways will emerge to use this principle and effect.

I should point out that in my review I said you get everything you need to do this effect you do but you do need some basic tools as well but I suspect most will have them, if not they can be found very cheap in £1 or $1 stores.

Saturn: Thanks for your remarks and candidness. I think I will go ahead and take the plunge, there are some other supplies I need, so I will include this.

I have just added a bonus page to our website so anyone purchasing from us has free access to my intial ideas and handlings on this effect.
The bonus page will show you a neat way to transport your paperclips. An easier way to prepare your impromptu clips (not that it's hard but I think it's easier) and advice on the in the hands and impromptu presentations. I must get some orders posted out now, my deck looks crazy with paperclips everywhere!!!

Much thought was put into this, it is a great looking effect and includes an interesting well made gimmick....however I suspect many will not ultimately perform this.
There is more than one gimmick in play to make this magic happen and for me there is too much going on behind the scenes to justify the actual effect. Fantastic for video and demo reels. |

I was under the impression that Saturn magic was a stand along store like Penquin or HP and did not bring out this effect, they just carry it. So they are offering a bonus to get people to buy from them.

I ordered from Penguin, and got my free shipping. I am sure there will be a forum and discussions on it there. But I am sure once I get it and play with it I can figure out alternate presentations that might work for me. After reading Eddie Garland's post I am now worried there is "too much going on behind the scenes".
I posted earlier what it "has to be" to work for me. If it will not work in a real world situation, then this might be for sale in the "For Sale" forum pretty quick. Unless it is too cool, then I will keep it to show friends. I will post a review when I get it and have a chance to practice it and perform it and see if it will work into my "instant miracles with no preparations" routines. I have all day to prepare, but when I start work, the miracles have to have no preparation during performance, and I have to be able to repeat and do them over and over all night. I have been working a long time on my routines, and I really do not need anything new, I have many instant miracles that work well, but I like visual magic when the music is too loud, lol. I am still looking forward receiving it. ACE

The way the gimmick version works is quite straight forward and easy to do. Yes there is some work but its not much if you want to do something as visual as this.
The other version where you use a glass or in hands etc is 100% workable for everyone if you don't really want to do much or any work in advance. For these other versions I recommend the bigger clips around 50mm / 2". It's easier to do what you need to on this size and it's more visual. For in the hands I am using the larger 75mm or 3" clips, you can use other sizes but I'm finding these work well.

Mine just arrived today. I really like the two impromptu versions offered and will be using these much more than the visual bend.

I couldn't see how this could use a certain something ( that I'm not good with) to achieve the superb effect. But it does!...

MMMMMM Have had thoughts of getting this but after watching the reveiw, I am not to sure now.
1: Yes I understand you have to buy paper clips ,they are easy to get one's hand's on. 2: What other stuff do I need to purchase to do theis effect? Can I get it in England localy,as I am fed up with purchasing tricks only to find it is dam well almost impossible to be source the material needed. 3: So much preferance on only doing the effect in the glass from reveiew's I have read so far, when in fact, it's the visual in the hand that I am most drawn to.Is it because it is very fiddly to do? to much messing about?.I am on the fence with this but so glad we have the Café and all it's very talented and imformative member's who can give us their true reveiws and experience, all the best. Don't like this much at all. Totally agree with everything said on the WPR. When I first opened the box, my initial reaction was OH GOD NO, PLEASE, NOT THIS METHOD.... and it was. Very dissapointed, yes, you can achieve a good visual bend using this, which looks awesome on camera, but, there are ALL sorts of problems created in the process... the set up, the visibility of the gimmick and of course, the switch. All these add up to something that is not very practical for strolling in the real world at all... this trick now becomes entirely dependant on the environment.
Yes, there is a gimmickless version which does work, but this feels like a 'little party trick' you'd make a friend go 'oh yeh, that's cool' - rather than get any reactions. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but, the final result of the impromptu bend isn't that spectacular. I bought this for the visual bend in hands, but, as I said, the method is something I personally detest at the best of times.... just due to the fact you can get exposed SO EASILY. Yep, clever thinking and the method does work, but, for me, it's just not something I want to be messing around with. I'm sure the majority of you will feel differently. Good luck.
