I just got iForce, and as I'm practicing a possible routine comes to mind. There are a few variables in putting the pieces together, and I don't know enough yet to understand the implications of the different structures. I'd value greatly any input y'all care to give.
In basic block form, it looks like this: -- Write on phone & set it down -- Hand person the four queens or a 4-card straight (for example) -- They set one aside one card facedown and set the others face up -- Turn over the phone and the last card Some variables: -- She receives the cards face down and sets one aside without ever looking at it *or* she looks through the set and plucks one out. -- A card is removed and I mark on my phone *or* I mark the phone and put it aside. -- I show the phone and then the card is revealed *or* the card first, then the phone. I'm a goofball, even when I'm not dressed like my avitar and doing kid's shows. That is to say, I can't create a deep mysterious atmosphere - the best I can do is "I've been playing with this and I'm not quite sure how it works." My initial thoughts are: -- Separate the cards and the phone in the beginning. Mark the phone almost like it's something unconnected and then explain what you want him to do with the cards. Connecting the phone and the cards would turn them into a set of props for a magic trick. -- Have him set aside one card with them face down. That would seem to add an element of tension: at the first it's a near random move for a totally unknown reason; in the end game it removes the "me against you" competition and sets up the mystery. -- I'm not sure when to show the phone. It's got to be just an electronic note pad, not a tech gizmo. If I show the phone first, then the three cards, and lastly the one set aside, then my note is quickly moved out of focus and we can highlight their choices. If we lay out the three first, then show the phone, it might be more obvious to connect the dots that "oh, that's what you wrote", plus pull the phone back into the mix in the middle of the end. I'd love to hear your comments. Ed |
