In one of David Berglas's series, (mid 1980's?), he devoted a show to debunking graphology. Or, at least, he gave them enough rope to hang themselves...

Just today I conducted an experiment with a participant and for evaluating depression etc. I used the BDI (Becks Depression Inventar). Pretty good external validity. I chose this over analysing the handwriting. You are right that you can use an inventory to evaluate tendencies for depression, but if the question is if the person has emotional stability and mental resilience to lead a company of 1000 employees it is another thing. For different reasons you can't construct an inventory that will single out those persons.
