I like the way Blaine thinks. Has he conned more people than John Edwards?

I had a bunch of people watch Blain and hearing that I did effects came to me wanting more. At the end they said, "Okay we give up, you're the best. You're better than Blaine".
I'm sure one on one we can convince many that we are as long as they know that not even David Blaine can do all the stuff in his specials for you if he were standing here. I tell them that with the aid of a camera I could do everything he can do and a lot better stuff (I actually had worked out a routine for street magic but due to lack of time and a good camera man I could trust didn't ever finish it). But I did a lot of the tricks they saw Blaine do, arm twist et al. It's just the vast majority of people don't have any experience with a real close-up magician. They have no idea there is more possible than the stupid card tricks they see from their friends and the proppy tricks for kids they see from kiddie magicians that do local work. Jonathan Grant |

Amen to that. However, I have had a few friends that did professional close-up magic but they just didn't seem to "get it". Their presentations were goofy and they did not pick very realistic effects (magic store looking stuff) and it just didn't go over. The people just kind of rolled their eyes and went on. It's all in presentation!
Like you said, most people haven't seen good magic close-up. If you can do good magic close-up you will be a miracle! Jonathan Grant |

Re Vertigo:
A friend of mine told me he tried to watch to show, but was unimpressed - he felt it was like watching an epidode of Fear Factor (without the girls). (Fear Factor is a weekly north american television show during which 6 people compete in 2 stuntman feats and one disgusting food tasting challenge. One of the stunts invariably involves cold water immersion of the pretty girls) So Emilio felt that if there were no girls being dunked in a show involving stunts and feeding off snakes, what was the point? ... and he surfed away from Blaine. Personally, I thought it was the least interesting of the the 3 shows I have seen . The visuals were not as interesting. Do not get me wrong it was still great LIVE tv, a feat for a magical act on network television, MA

Thats funny you said that about the invariable cold water stunts for the pretty girls . That is so true. I love that show.
Probably for that reason. I missed the vertigo show. Does anyone know if it will be reaired anytime soon ? E-Leoni. |

Most likely he will follow suit and air the special again with his preferred cut with more magic and less stunt. Be on the lookout. ABC.com should have something some time before the airing.
