STAR QUALITY (The Magic of David Regal) is in LORAYNE: THE CLASSIC COLLECTION, Vol.4. Problem is - everything may be out of print by the time you stop asking questions!!

Mr. Lorayne: I don't think so, if it will be out of print than there will be other books ( hopefully good ). And I do not earn money - I can not afford to buy 20 books like you I have to think about my purchase hardly before I buy it. There are a lot of good books, but I can not compare them as we do not have magic shop in our country I have to buy it thru internet and nobody gives free samples of book so ...

You've been told over and over in this thread - see Andy Young, Dr. JK ("If you want impromptu, non-setup card tricks, it's hard to imagine doing better than The Classic Collection books (even at the price). If you want to see the table of contents for them, try here.), Mike Maturen, and so forth. What in the world else do you need? And, yes, of course there will be other books, and as you say "Hopefully good" but how will you know? Asking questions like "are they hard," and etc., makes little sense because you're asking what other people think - that doesn't work. You go by "reputation" and take a darn chance, my friend.

JK: I had forgotten that CUCM is in the Classic Collection 1. Thanks for the reminder. Paragon: Buy Classic Collection 1...you won't be sorry!

Or I will do it this way: I will order Close-up card magic and card college 1 & 2. And after reading Close-up card magic I will see if I will get Classic collections.
Sorry Mr. Lorayne, not from you, yes I would like to have your autograph, but I would have to pay the shipping twice and from USA it is very pricey. Guys, thank you once more. |

"sloppy shuffle triumph" (Chris Kenner has a video tutorial on theory11) is one of the best totally impromptu easy card tricks that I know of (no real sleights.. not even a DL).

You've really done much research, haven't you, thomasR. Just curious. Because when you say "that I know of" that begs the question - how many do you "know of"? Again, just curious.

A couple of tricks that I would really recommend are gray's spelling trick from the royal road to card magic and the crusade - a mind reader's ACAAN by Atlas Bookings.

I picked up pretty well all of Karl Fulves's self-working card trick books published by Dover, based on another recommendation in a different discussion some weeks back. Haven't been through them but have already found some gems (for me). Fulves makes the case in his books that interspersing tricks dependent on sleights with a few that don't adds variety and mystery to a routine. My ever-sceptical wife points out that when my hands are shuffling and cutting she suspects I am up to something even if she doesn't know what it is. Still I managed to baffle her with an old school Do As I Do effect. I love these Fulves books so far, but I will be on the lookout for Colombini and Card College Light.
Also, though it is ancient, I picked up Encyclopedia of Card tricks used for a few dollars, and though this venerable treatise seems superseded by more modern work, this beginner is finding some really awesome stuff. It remains an impressive tome, I think, even today. Les |

As much as I like the Card College series, the Light series didn't really impress me. I learned a few self working concepts, but that's about it. Harry Lorayne books are where it's at. Even the tricks that require a catd arrangement can be setup pretty quickly and in front of everyone cause it's usually just a few cards.
